Re: Sony KDL-46V2500 / Blown HDMI Port from surge
A quick update. I bought a board on eBay from a KDL-40V2500 for about $40. I'm now back in business. Both HDMI ports are now working.

Wow. Nice catch. I'm very impressed. I never would have noticed that. Also, looks like the top layer of the PCB board got chipped off where one of the capactior leads would have been attached. Can a cap still be attached with it being like this? I didn't notice any extra parts in the electrostatic bag so I can only assume that they missed it

Re: Sony KDL-46V2500 / Blown HDMI Port from surge
I took a closer look at the replacement board. Please see the pictures below.
There is is what looks to be burnt spot on the back side of where the HDMI connector is. I didn't inspect the unit that closely before installing it so I can only assume it was there from the start. Does that brown spot look like something might have been repaired? Re: Sony KDL-46V2500 / Blown HDMI Port from surge
I got the replacement main board on Friday and tried installing it that night. Unfortunately it is not working. All I get is the power button initially showing a green color when you turn it on but it soon turns into a red standby light and I can't do anything more.
I'm thinking 2 possible scenarios as to what the issue is.
1) I believe the replacement board was from the 40-inch version (KDL-40V2500). There is no firmware update on the Sony site. Also, this TV doesn't have a network or USB plug so perhaps...Last edited by jimbo71; 06-28-2014, 12:28 AM.

Re: Sony NSX-32GT1, Power Surge, No video/audio/lights, just a clicking sound
I'm happy to report that the TV is now working. I bought a power supply board from Tri State Module for about $55. I swapped it out today and no more clicking. The TV now powers on properly. It's got a total of 4 HDMI inputs. One of them does not work. I'm not sure if it is the one that was plugged in at the time of the surge but it most likely was. When I turn on my LG Bluray player connected to this bad input it will initially show the LG logo and the red warm up dots along the bottom of the screen but...

Re: Sony NSX-32GT1, Power Surge, No video/audio/lights, just a clicking sound
I gave it a try. The CN6150 goes to the main board (BA board) and the small plug beside of it goes to the M Board.
I tried unplugging it in stages. I first unplugged both connectors and no clicking sound when I plugged the power cord in. I then plugged in the M board and still no clicking sound. I then plugged in the main board and the clicking resumed. Ouch! Does that mean it's more likely to be an issue with the main board rather than power supply?
I kind of jumped the gun...

Below is a link that shows a closeup of that connector. I don't have a multi meter (or know how to use it) but a friend might be able to help me this weekend

Sony KDL-46V2500 / Blown HDMI Port from surge
There was a lightning strike very close to our house and it took out one of the two HDMI ports on this TV. The other HDMI port (and other ports) seem to work just fine. The part below is compatible with both the KDL-40V2500 and KDL-46V2500 and has the HDMI inputs on the board. Since the TV is working correctly other than the blown HDMI port, is this the only part you would expect that needs replacing?

Sony NSX-32GT1, Power Surge, No video/audio/lights, just a clicking sound
A bolt of lightning hit very, very close to our house and messed up a couple of our TV's. TV's are long out of warranty. Due to a high home owner's deductible it's not really worth pursuing a a claim.
So for the NSX-32GT1 it worked very well prior to the incident. After the surge the person who turned it on advised me that it started to come and I believe the power light was on but then no lights and all it does now is a make a clicking sound. I took the back cover off the TV to see if I could find any visual signs of something being burnt out. I didn't see any. I carefully plugged...
