I will have another look later see if I can find bl-on and monitor it or manually trigger the backlight, I did get power led to pulse error 6 when I disconnected the led plug so assuming the current draw from backlight is within tolerance.Leave a comment:

did Try that but there was no backlights on, tried with mainboard disconnected and with main and tcon disconnected but not even a flicker from the backlights,
Don’t think it’s a backlight issue though as the boot up animation freezes before the backlight switches off.

Already done that, few possibles on psu but nothing obvious, resoldered them and all the usual suspects but made no difference, main board looks ok may try a reflow on cpu / ram later, just wanted to see if anybody else has resolved this issue without replacing board.Leave a comment:

Yes as I said earlier one time it did boot up and I got into help menu to see the firmware version, then it rebooted from that screen and reverted back to original fault.Leave a comment:

Yes did wonder if it was a failed update but as there is a newer firmware I assume auto update was off, otherwise it would already have the latest firmware installedLeave a comment:

Yes it was connected via Ethernet originally, but have tried resetting with it disconnected, one time it did boot up and I managed to get in the help menu and it was running firmware pkg5.433.0183eub it then when off and rebooted and back to reboot loop again....Leave a comment:

Hi got a Sony kid-55s8505c that keeps rebooting.
Tried resetting but no joy, could anybody confirm reset is done by pressing vol - on control and power on back of set whilst plugging set in ?
Also tried firmware update via usb but as the tv does not boot its not doing the update.
So I suspect mainboard.

I know this is an old thread but just for reference just had a vgn-n21e (rev1.1) that was totally dead and suspected max1909, turned out to be a short 10uf 25v ceramic (pc106) on the dcbatout line.Leave a comment:

just rechecked at the plug, when leds are on the black wire has about 85v and red has about 32v, when led shut down black wire decays to 24v and red decays to 0v.
if there is no video source the backlights illuminate for a few minutes at low brightness, if i connect a video source backlight lights at full brightness for a few seconds then shuts off.Leave a comment:

got a hitachi 32HXC01U (17pw19-5 psu )and the backlight turns off after a few minutes. Checked the usual diodes and mosfet all check out ok.

got a totally dead g710 uses Dumb02 motherboard.
20 pic ic next to bios bat getting hot, no identification on ic, anybody got a service manual for this board, or know what the ic is marked in the picture.

Working on this laptop that had water spilt on it, and was completely dead,
Replaced pu102 (tps51427a) and removed pq269(SSM3K09FU) VA_off mosfet (awaiting replacement, but removed for now to enable VA)
The laptop now powers up but will not recognize any HDD, or boot from optical drive although they do both spin up, in bios HDD shows as none.
If I boot from usb windows install does not see any drive.
I have 5v at both optical and hdd sata ports, but have never really done any work on sata port so not sure where to look.
