Re: Internal speaker swap pz800 to g10
I believe the resistance is higher on the pz800 speakers but I forgot to look closely at the speaker wire when cleaning the tv and so if it only has one wire it’s not worth taking the chance. Oh well. I do have external speakers but sometimes with quick viewing I liked to use the tv speakers and not having it sound awful.
Was also disappointed the stand from the pz800 doesn’t work on the g10. The metal posts must have a tiny faction of a difference somewhere because they look identical otherwise.

Internal speaker swap pz800 to g10
I recently got a free Panasonic 46g10 however the internal speakers suck. My 42pz800 which recently died has noticeably better speakers. I know the speaker mounts aren't the same but it might be possible to jerry rig something. My main concern is the wattage. The g10 has 2x10w where as the pz800 is 2x15. Would swapping speakers even work or likely trigger voltage protection? This is more of a curiosity if anyone has tried this before and what the results were.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ800 8-blink error mystery
That and burn marks were the first thing i checked. I've pulled every board but the c1/c2 boards to check for damage and reseat cables but no luck. The SS board was also replaced.
The c1/c2 boards were the only ones i didn't remove due to all the panel heatsinks and stuff attached to them. Visually they show no signs of damage. Pretty much everything in the tv has been thoroughly cleaned.
D board looked good showing zero signs of damage.
C23 has been played with a fair...

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ800 8-blink error mystery
Sadly I've been unable to solve the 8 blink issue but i did notice something odd.
If the tv is acting up it usually wont stay on very long.
If I unplug the ss33 connector on the ss board as per service manual, it will power on and stay on but with no display as expected.
If i let it run like that for a few minutes then shut down to reconnect the ss33 connector the tv works fine the next time it's powered on for a random amount of time. Usually a few hours.
I get the same result with original and...

Panasonic TH-42PZ800 8-blink error mystery
Years ago my tv gave a 7 blink code which turned into 8 during diagnosis. I had ordered a replacement ss board but somehow the tv started working again and i never used the board. Now a week ago my tv flickered and shut off at random and gave the 8 blink error code. The same issue it had all those years ago. The only difference this time is that over the last few months there has been some purple and green tinge that comes and goes in more solid colors such as white.
Anyway i checked all the screws and replaced the ss board with a known good one and still got 8 blinks. I saw a...

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ800
no as mentioned vsus stays stable even when the picture is flickering like crazy. the only voltage that is low is the anode the service guide says to check on the ss board. its 0.08ish when it should be 2.7v. I measured it a number of times because it was so low. im not sure what the anode is measuring and I've checked the board carefully front to back but couldn't find anything wrong with it.
the only other thing I can think of is the d board but if the manual is correct it should be fine. since the tv works for a...

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ800
sc board should be 199-201
and I forgot to mention those voltages remain steady even when the screen is flickering right before it shuts down.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ800
I couldn't see any dry joints and couldn't see any vsus test spots on the power board itself. There is a tpvsus point on both the ss and sc board near where the 4 pin power connects, are those the correct test points? the only voltage listed on the panel is for vsus which is 202v.
the sc board reads: 199-200
the ss board reads: 201-202
Are those readings within the margin of error for a plasma?
Another finding: After it starts to 8 blink If I try to turn it back on right away it shuts off within...Last edited by nervx; 10-18-2014, 01:12 AM.

Panasonic TH-42PZ800
Last week my plasma started to dither and flicker then shut off, 7 led blinks.
I tracked down the service manual and followed the steps.
-disconnected the SU/SD board, 7 blinks
-disconnected the SC board, solid red
I thought i had it figured out but i wanted to make sure and needed to get the part number. So a day later i opened it back up, followed the same testing and now i get 8 blinks. wut?
It's been 8 blinks since.
This would indicate the SS board or panel is bad according to the manual but here's something odd. If i unplug the...
