Re: Please Help: Sony KDL-46W4100 Video Problems STRANGE
Getting ready to take a walk with my wife and daughter. I probably need it at the moment anyway.
In the meantime, I took a short video of the cycling issue.

Re: Please Help: Sony KDL-46W4100 Video Problems STRANGE
To be honest, I'm not sure the tip of my probe is small enough to not short out adjacent pins on the LVDS cable. The exposed solder pads I'd have to touch are TINY
With extreme care, I could probably do it. What initial settings should I look at on my scope as far as Voltage and Time?...

Re: Please Help: Sony KDL-46W4100 Video Problems STRANGE
With the two questionable replacement main boards, the cycling issue goes away. Backlights and audio are functioning 100% correctly. I simply have no video with either the original Tcon (That will display perfect video when connected to the original board) or the replacement Tcon I received today....

Re: Please Help: Sony KDL-46W4100 Video Problems STRANGE
Update 5.25.17
I received another Tcon board today. This one had both identical board numbers as well as identical series number (K2151J)
My initial test was my control test.
(Original Power Supply, Original Main Board, Original Tcon)
Results: Video and Audio function. I get approximately 8 seconds of A/V followed by a reset period of approximately 6 seconds. This occurs in an endless loop and is the original problem I'm attempting to correct.
For my 2nd test, I...

Re: Please Help: Sony KDL-46W4100 Video Problems STRANGE
** Bump - Information & 2 new questions **
OK. I have tried two separate main boards. Both eliminate the endless reboot sequence, but yield only audio, no video.
I had a replacement Tcon arrive today, but unfortunately it was not the correct version and as such was incompatible with this set. I am now waiting for the correct tcon to arrive.
Could the Tcon still be bad even if it will display perfect video (for 8 seconds) when connected to the original main board?
What...

Please Help: Sony KDL-46W4100 Video Problems STRANGE
Hello,
I have a Sony KDL-46W4100 lcd television that I have been experiencing trouble with.
Here are the symptoms:
When the television is turned on, I can get audio and video for approximately 8 seconds, then the audio and video go black for approximately 6 seconds, then the audio and video resume for another 8 seconds. This occurs in an endless loop.
When the audio and video go black, the backlight stays on.
Here is what I have tried so far:
I have replaced the power supply...

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
I got an email response from the place I bought the board from. Their tech was nice enough to send a few emails back and forth with me. He stated that the board was tested in a working TV prior to being sold. He offered to exchange the board for another that he has, so I don't think he's really out to rip me off.
He did mention, however, that the Sanyo TVs were known for having problems with the CCFL bulbs themselves. According to him, a bad bulb can cause the single flash problem I'm experiencing.
If it's...

Looks like the same problem I'm having. Unfortunately, the OP quit before he got it resolved.
To save some time, I have tested: R322 (The Fusible resistor) with a reading of 0.33 Ohms.
I also tried connecting the BL_ON to the 5VSB at CN6 through a 1k resistor. Still only get a flash of the backlight.Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Tu...=dp42849...

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
Update:
I assembled the panel and installed only the main board & power supply / inverter board. I left the TCON board disconnected and left the lcd panel and glass setting aside on the bench.
Approximately 5 seconds after hitting the power button on the TV, all of the CCFL tubes turn on and immediately turn back off. They all light, but they only stay on for a fraction of a second. It's more of a single flash. Then they go back out and do not come back on.
I'll be doing some searching,...

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
So at this point, I should probably reassemble but leave the lcd glass panel out so that I can get a good look at the bulbs while turning the tv on?

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
These lamps actually appear to be soldered onto the pc board. Best I can tell, they're not socketed.

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - Backlight Not Turning On
All ballast caps are reading infinite when tested for resistance leak. At this point, would I be good to reassemble the LCD panel? If it is indeed the bulbs, it would probably make this TV not economical to repair anyway.
