Re: Jvc av-48wp55 no power
Yes, I guess that is the same "service manual" i found. Not even a flowchart!

Jvc av-48wp55 no power
I have a JVC AV48WP55 which will not power up. When plugged in, the green light on front lights for one second and goes out. I hear a slight hum from the speakers for about a second also. I have read a common problem is a shorted IC on either the red green or blue boards but I have disconnected CN00A and get the same results so I know that is not the initial problem.
This set is some sort of CRT / Projection hybrid and having very little experience with CRT's and no service manual I am stumped. Can anyone offer me advice / theory of operation or anything that would help? I appreciate...

Re: Stumped on Samsung PN60E530A3F
I have a Samsung PN60E550D1FXZA with sound and no picture. When plugged in i briefly get correct Vs and Va which then drops down to 0. With only X-main hooked up, it drops slowly. With both X and Y hooked up it drops significantly faster. I have checked both Y buffers and found no shorts. -Vscan comes up briefly to -209 and i hear a buzzing from what sounds like U5014 for a few seconds then it stops and voltages drop. I tried freeze spray to no avail and upon power on i initially get about 16-17V on the right leg of C5162.
I felt...

With both X and Y hooked up it drops significantly faster (they are in series). I have checked both Y buffers and found no shorts. I read in another thread here that freezing U5014 and the caps around it can cause it to turn on temporarily and let you confirm the fault but I haven't had any success with that (using an upside down air can, i'm going to pick up proper freeze spray this weekend).

VO47L master / slave inverter help
I have a Visio VO47L FHDTV10A with no backlight. I happen to have a spare, known good, PSU and main board. I have replaced the master inverter as it showed physical damage to the IC, and replaced the caps on the slave as they were bulged and way out of spec. I still have no backlight and before replacing the slave inverter i would like to be able to verify that it is bad. Can anyone explain how they function? they are connected to each other through ribbon cables and a wiring harness. They both have 24V to them but I dont know how the master signals the slave to fire. I just want to make sure...

Re: Samsung SP-P4231 vertical line f-buffer?
Hopefully the pic is in high enough resolution that you can see how it changes colors when intersecting the OSD. According to Samsung's plasma troubleshooting guide, a solid white or black line is almost ALWAYS the panel but "other lines that vary with content" are almost NEVER the panel.
I guess my question now is, in theory, could the F buffer possibly cause the vertical line above it? The part is only about $20 but i'd rather know for sure if there is any possible way to do that.

Samsung SP-P4231 vertical line f-buffer?
I have a Samsung SP-P4231 plasma with a single vertical line (only about 1 pixel wide) running from top to bottom directly in the center of the screen. The line shows on all inputs and even on the on-screen menu. It is for the most part, a black line as it is not visible on black areas of the screen but it appears white when it intersects the on screen menu's blue bars and ive also seen it turn red. I have removed and cleaned the contacts of the F-Buffer with no change. Before I buy a replacement f-buffer, can anyone with experience tell me if this will likely solve my problem? Thanks!

Mitsubishi WD-60638 DLP FIXED
I recently had the joy of fixing a Mitsubishi WD-60638. The customer stated that her bulb went bad and after installing the new bulb, the TV started smoking and the TV would no longer turn on. She had taken it to a local shop that has been around for years, but after several weeks of getting the run-around about needing to order two fans, a new ballast and a color wheel, she got the TV delivered back EXACTLY like it left only $100 poorer.
The leads coming from the ballast to the lamp housing had melted the connector. even without being connected to the lamp the inside was so damaged...

Re: Samsung UN40D5550RF power cycling
I also just realized i can put my DMM in DC AMP mode and see how much each +rail draws and see if anything seems too high. You guys are awesome!

Re: Samsung UN40D5550RF power cycling
After reading the above posts, that was the next thing on my mind.. so if the 14-pin cable causes the issue, i need to narrow down which pin (s) are actually causing it. Then , at least i know what part of the circuit to start tracing and minimize the testing of random SMD components. That is why I think it is invaluable to be able to bounce ideas off of experts. Sometimes you hit a wall and don't see what direction to take next. Often when I am stuck I ask a colleague to give a fresh perspective with no background info just to get another approach...

Re: Samsung ln52a650 power cycle
have you checked the PSU output voltages before and after plugging a component in? Does it work fine if nothing is ever hooked to it?

Re: Samsung UN40D5550RF power cycling
Ah! I did not think to check the power inputs for shorts. I will do that tomorrow before I try to "reflow" the BGA chips. Thank you both for giving me direction! I will update with my results.

Re: Samsung LN32A300J1D Whitescreen
You can purchase the AS15's for a few dollars on ebay. You will likely need someone with a hot air rework station to change them though.

Re: Lg funny looking picture
Check T-CON connector ends and if they look tarnished clean them carefully with an eraser.

Samsung UN40D5550RF power cycling
I have a Samsung UN40D5550RF that as soon as it is plugged in, it powers itself on for a few seconds then turns itself off for about 30 seconds then back on for a few seconds and continues this cycle.
I am pretty sure that the PSU is ok, when i remove the 14-pin cable from PSU to main board, the back light comes on and stays on and all voltages are correct. I removed the T-CON, speakers and power buttons from the main board but still get the same results, as soon as the PSU is hooked up to the main board, the cycling starts.
Aside from the fact that I cannot even...
