• Re: Panasonic 58-TXAX802B Stuck on Panasonic Logo

So I have the big brother for this TV. A TC-65AX800U.

It recently started getting stuck after the logo. Red LED then flashed 6 times, over and over. Stuck, had to unplug to boot again or hold power button down and release. Was intermittent but eventually it was broken for good.

From repair manual it said 6 blinks was Mainboard issue.

Part TNPH1097 (A)

Got a pull from China for $141. TV fixed.

Reading this thread I'm curious what really brought my board down....

• Re: Panasonic TC-65AX800U screen crack on delivery

So, wanted to wrap this up.

I got a few calls from a manager/owner named "Sal", he was quite sad that he had to eat a dead TV since I didn't notice the crack on delivery. Told him I didn't want to get refund, I would settle for a perfect TV. He got a little happier.

Then I pointed out that the base weighs 40lbs and that we could both make life easier by me keeping everything but TV. Would save 40lbs coming here, and going back.

He agreed, and I suggested that he have AM trucking wait...

They have since written me through Ebay that they are in fact Mason Camera and have a 40 year relationship with Panasonic. I wrote back that I didn't care about what they said< i wanted the perfect TV I paid for. I also stated that i didn't think it was my job to file a warranty claim for a new TV. Shortly after that I heard from someone from We-are-deals on the phone, wanting SN for TV to file the warranty claim.

Today I heard form Mark from NPR or PNR on the phone, said he does warranty service for Panasonic. He...

• Re: Another LG 60PV450 Z-Sustain issue, maybe?

Hmm, wonder if he would buy my 2 @ dead Z-Sus boards? I was going to recycle them but maybe they could help some poor bastard in the future? I'm still hoping that someone takes initiative and figures out why the PK250 board worked or could work and aren't as prone to dying.

And on the longevity front, while i did pre-emptively re-lead the coil joints on both sustain boards, before I button the thing up I want to improve it's future prospects.

I went ahead and ordered a bunch of these:

• Re: Another LG 60PV450 Z-Sustain issue, maybe?

He refunded me fully, in 30 minutes or less after I contacted him.

I think he finally realized that he actually lost money on the deal, since he paid for shipping here.

I just have a hard time helping him rip off someone else after he wasted my time with a 100% dead Z-Sus. Especially as his Z-Sus had failed EXACTLY as predicted in these threads. Loose coils, blown fuse, shorted FETS.

If mine had blown that way I wouldn't have been jacking around all over the TV. Easy to see it was dead with a...

Another update: Since the 4K Panny unit has flaw I have started a return, looks like I will be putting the LG back into service, I REALLY like the 4K but hard to justify retiring the LG with it working again.

Meanwhile, the EBay seller who sent the junk Z-Sus has requested my contact info and left me 2 voice mails. I also got notice from Ebay that he is filing an insurance claim for shipping damage. Roughest shipping in the world wouldn't cause coil soldering issue, blown fuses and blown FETs, that is all LG fault, and...

Plot thickens.

We-Are-Deals sent this through Ebay:

"Please contact Panasonic as there warranty is supposed to cover this issue in either case. If your still not satisfied please contact us again."

So I did, and Panasonic says that NOTHING sold on Ebay carries a warranty of any sort from them. I even linked the support chat guy to the we-are-deals.com website and asked specifically if they were an authorized dealer. "no" was the answer.

Silly me paid an extra...

I gave up on fixing the one that got sparky. I got a refurb one from Best Buy's parts division. Was shipped by ModusLink PTS from Bloomington for $67.

I am going to keep all these bad boards, though I hope to god I never need any of them. My folks had a Zenith 19" color they bought in 1973. Didn't need any repairs for more then 10 years. It was still limping along in their basement until recently. For something with such a pleasing screen to crap out at 3 years is criminal.

• Panasonic TC-65AX800U screen crack on delivery

So, I found this board two weeks ago to fix my LG 60PV450 Plasma. As it got more and more complicated (and I heard more and more complaints about watching TV on computer monitor) I got desperate.

I had wanted a Panasonic 4K TV since they are only ones with DisplayPort. I ordered one from a guy on Amazon in Florida. Was a bait and switch, tried to sell me a 50" something else. Then I found We-are-deals on Ebay. Seems to be a place for Panasonic to unload leftovers and refurbs.

Tried to ask them questions, they indicated it had a 1 year warranty from Panasonic. So...

• Re: Another LG 60PV450 Z-Sustain issue, RESOLVED !!!

I should have always trusted my thoughts, and thank you to the guy who found the Amazon deal.

It was in fact the Z-Sus.

And I learned something else....that "wrong" Z-Sus I tried....was working.

Today the Amazon box came. I dreaded having another special effects spark show but had to know. Tested the fuses on the board, they were good, so already better off then the bad Ebay board. I slapped some lead on the Coil joints to be Pro-active, Put it in, fired it up and.......

So, despite more repairs to bad Ebay board, it still eventually clicks off, just not right away like before. Not going to drive myself crazy with this anymore, just waiting for refurb board from Amazon.

On the "more bad news" front, the Panny 4K got here. Single driver so I had to help him wrestle it into elevator, etc. We powered it up, pic looked good. Later in the day I got it assembled and in place, then I realized that the cute screen menu page that had little blue circles had one more circle then it should...

Thank You.

Ordered !

We shall see, I had a long updated typed up but my "token expired" and so did the update.

More tonight when I get back.

Further repairs to the bad EBay board have moved me forward, a little.

energyx

you called that one, i saw a spark on Zsus and thought it was from a cap in center of board

when I pulled it back off I noticed scorch marks at the screw hole by that cap

I was only missing 2 screws, but apparently enough

Up until that point I had correct voltages, after they were all off (all meaning the ones made on Z Sus and Y Sus) PSU voltages have remained fine.

I iwsh I knew what the hell was really going on. Time to bust out the voltmeter and check the lower...

Be happy to take it. I can PM you and get a paypal address or can mail a check, whatever.

The EBay was terrified I would leave bad feedback and had a full refund in my account within 30 minutes of me telling him board was junk. My guess is he was rolling dice, had an idea it might be bad.

I clipped center leg of one FET at a time, on 3rd one the short was fixed. Much easier changing FET on the Zeus then on Y. Replaced FS103 and quick circuit test looks OK.

I replaced all 3 of the bad FETS on the...

• More bad news

I thought I found a good Z-Sus

But all of the "please don't file a claim against us" language had me wary.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252036779776?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

And sure enough, it got here today, I had a look at it and saw cracks on the coil solder joints. After I fixed them, I decided to take a DMM to it, first check was the big main fuse FS103.

OPEN !!!

Checked the power MOSFETS, all 3 pins shorted everywhere. So, worse then...

My board had these:

512-FGPF4633TU
FGPF4633TU
330V PDP

I tried to find a better version but couldn't.

Is there something else?

These were on my Y-Sus that burned up right after I soldered coils on Z-Sus. I have not found anything wrong with Z-Sus yet the symptoms originally looked like it was bad.

Man, I just found a Z Sus on Ebay. But it's in Florida and I am in LA so he won't be driving it by. I hope you get the right part. I keep checking CL for a TV like mine with broken screen. A month ago someone in Phoenix had one for sale for $95, 7 hours in a car and I might have gone.

Good luck, I hope yours gets fixed. I'm feeling doubtful.

• And the hits just keep on coming...

I should have known that finding a NEW Z-Sus in stock was too good to be true.

Got an email, they have shipped my Refurb Y-Sus but the Z-Sus is on Backorder !

Probably a "waiting for Godot" sort of backorder.

They did manage to CHARGE for the Z-Sus though.

Glad I ordered the FETS from Mouser but I have to say I'm feeling more like this thing is going to get junked. Sad.

Has anyone had LG repair their set? Their site makes it look like no big deal.

Yeah, they look OK. Sad thing is that all I did to Z-Sus was touch up solder joints and now the Y-Sus has blown apart.

I have some of the FETS coming from Mouser, but I am not hopeful. When I pull the old FETS i'll touch up the coils. I also ordered a new Zsus and a refurb Y-Sus but am afraid they will just blow up too.

I know I need to test the Y Buffers for shorts. TV was fine, went dark and now I have a collection of blown up parts. Probably going to avoid LG for the future, doesn't seem they meant these...
