  • Re: Gateway FPD1730 - black display, green power led

Actually, I'm not really sure. I just made an assumption since I had a very similar problem in a Dell. In this case the situation is the same as what others have said the backlight comes on then goes off in about 2 seconds. With the Dell the transformers output changed for whatever reason so I upped the transistors tolerance levels and put a small fan on it. That monitor has been working for about a year and a half now. So I thought maybe I had a similar problem here.

Hey thanks! I have the exact same model as severach. My presumption is that I just have bad transformers if you have those, but I guess a replacement inverter board is just as well....

So, I was wondering. Since I know my inverter board is bad is there anywhere that I can buy a replacement... without paying $79.99...?

    Hey Guys,

Okay. I didn't have a chance to order new transformers. I ordered the MJE's and installed them. Monitor green light came on for a while, but no picture. Shut it off and turned it back on... poof... flashing green. I was talking with some people and they are pretty sure that inspite of the transformer appearing to be okay it may be shorted to where too much voltage is coming through causing the voltage punch through. So... If I have a chance to order the transformers I'll let u know how things turn out. It's just that I'm too lazy to actually...

    Hey Guys,

I found a bad transformer in mine causing my transistors to go bad similar to prototech. This is what he said:
Please forward this response to the forum to help someone else.

To recap the symptoms of MINE, a Dell E172FPb by BenQ, the display would come on for about 1 second, then go off. The green power light stayed on just fine. Upon physical examination, I found one inverter output transformer (T752) that had a charred spot between the output pins. I chased down the part, replaced it, and it works.

    Hey Dockarl,

Is the monitor still working? Do you happen to know the transformer replacement part number and where I can buy them?

    THanks

    Hey Prototech,

If you find out the Transformer info let me know. I'm looking to order the same ones. I'm going to go ahead and order all the transistors and capacitors that commonly fail, but don't want to install them until I get the Transformers.

    Thanks!!
