Re: Compatibility between lcd controller & inverter. (5v vs 12v)
Alright, after some research, the main IC on the LCD controller(himax hx6856), I found out that it uses PWM for the backlight control. No details on the inverter though, picture was too blurry. Also, do you guys know any where I could get a complete set on the cheap with just a VGA input? I'm currently at my wits end about this project. Or maybe an inverter that operates with pwm signals. I just want a quick and easy way to finish this.

Re: Compatibility between lcd controller & inverter. (5v vs 12v)
Is it safe to assume that the signal transmission is the same?(considering both connectors are the same, and made in the same era) I cannot find much about the inverter's main chip. The two other's are power mosfets. Also, the inverter may not fit the casing, so I may have to find another one. Any suggestions? So far, I have this...Last edited by Scorpent; 02-28-2016, 09:38 AM.

Re: Compatibility between lcd controller & inverter. (5v vs 12v)
Lemme rephrase that question:
Can I take 12v line from the inverter and plug it into the 12v rail and plug the brightness control/inverter_on wires into the 5v lcd controller? Is the signal voltage different on different inverters?(5v inverter vs 12v inverter)Re: Compatibility between lcd controller & inverter. (5v vs 12v)

Compatibility between lcd controller & inverter. (5v vs 12v)
Today, one of my friends gave me an old Samsung Syncmaster 943nw(panel is BOE HT190WG1-600). As expected, it wasn't working. I tried to repair the caps, but screwed up the solder points. Now, I want to reuse it by getting a Universal LCD Controller that can run it.
The problem is that, the LCD controller runs on 5v and the inverter is not suitable for the panel 4 CCFL connectors. I went searching again and found this...

Re: Strange Problem with Viewsonic VX2235wm-5.
Hmmm, I didnt have too many good caps in my inventory so I just threw in a Teapo temporarily. The heatsinks get hot due to poor dissipation. I'm thinking of repositioning the cap using wires to another place....

Re: Strange Problem with Viewsonic VX2235wm-5.
Okay, Selldoor I had changed the cap and it works! Thanks a lot! Sorry you had to put up with my slow response time. But was the cap heating up because it's shorted?...

Re: Strange Problem with Viewsonic VX2235wm-5.
Oh dear, I should mention more details next time. I had pointed a torch on the front and nothing. Not even a faint "no signal". I starting to think that the cap is shorted or something....

Re: FSP200-60ATV. Worth repairing?
There was a thermometer for fan control, but it runs too slow to even move a decent amount of air....

Hmm, in that respect, I may scrap it as I don't have enough cash or time to recap the whole thing. Thanks anyway. What do you suggest to take from the psu?...

Re: FSP200-60ATV. Worth repairing?
Fact : Brand new from the factory. Never replaced. I guess Teapos were once an okay capacitor or just plain luck. (So far, I have seen no blown Teapos.)...

Re: FSP200-60ATV. Worth repairing?
Okay thanks momaka, Here's my findings:
Ground to:
Orange(3.3v) 8Ω
Red(5v) 15Ω
Yellow(12v) Around 92Ω-95Ω
My cheap multimeter doesn't give a too accurate result so accuracy at about +-5Ω
Pictures are attached. The bodged wire was not done by me or my friend....Last edited by Scorpent; 10-24-2015, 09:58 AM.

Strange Problem with Viewsonic VX2235wm-5.
G' Day all, I got this Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 from a relative of mine. They told me that they haven't used it for sometime, but they claimed it worked before they put it away for some time. Now, when I plug it in, the only thing that comes to live with only the blue led, turning dimmer after 1-2 sec after plug-in(lcd starting?).
Anyway, took it apart and there were no bulging caps, visible heat damage to the metal cage around the where the heatsinks were. Then I noticed a 2200uF 10V SamXon cap in the "heat box of death". When powered on, it was uncomfortably hot after...

Sorry guys, almost forgot, that resistor(see pic) heats up quite toasty if it runs....

FSP200-60ATV. Worth repairing?
G Day,
Recently I got this PSU from a friend of mine. When I received it, it was fully functional, voltages within spec.As time passed, it's been acting up funny like turning off randomly or refusing to turn on. Now, it wont turn on at all. If you short the green to black quickly will will make the fan turn or receive power less than 1 sec. STBY voltage is normal at 5V. So what you guys think? Capacitors screwing up?(no bulged caps) Screwed IC? If i'm missing any info, feel free to ask me.
I only have basic tools for repairing and my soldering skills ain't best.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
G' Day everyone,
I have came along the forum a couple times, and today I have decided to sign up. Currently I'm searching for a working monitor after mine( Samsung 943nw ) died. Many monitors had come into my hands but all of them is broken. And that's why I'm here. But, they say nothing is impossible, and so I have began my journey to fixing monitors. When I'm not on my quest, I love troubleshooting computers and repairing other electronic items. And writing stories.Re: New Members - please post your introductions
