there's burn marks on the dvi connector too when i took this all apart. One really really expensive lesson....

lol!! im not touching nothing. i went around this 3 story house and unplugged everything. this is an old fortress from the 20's that must have past some really shady inspection because the breaker panel is NOT a breaker panel. It's a fuse box!!! in the 21st century. anyways Ive installed a few gfci or gcfi or whatever they're called (sorry been a long long day) that were in a box of 24 so someone had the right idea before me but must of just shrugged it off till they sold this place. My wife was freaked out by the experience and is petrified about...

i didn't get a chance to test with a multimeter due to obligations last night but i did unplug EVERYTHING and the powerbar that had the receiver plugged into it along with one or two other things had the ground plug clipped. that plugged into another powerbar that had a ground plug so all along i actually thought everything was grounded and couldn't figure out what happened. i put that right in the garbage. I found 3 more in the closet and 1 that the mini bar fridge is plugged into.
On another note my nvidia grafx card crapped out. fans still...

yes. the fuse was fine. It got zapped through the ground plane of the hdmi port so im thinking the ic is dead. Im going to test the board through the test points when i get a chance but i ended up finding this monitor with a cracked screen on kijiji.ca for $40 so i jumped on it and now a quick switch of parts and i got my monitor back. is it worth researching and troubleshooting? boredom will tell
thanks for the interest

so i took my sisters logic board out of her tv since she's working nights and tried it in my tv. the tv turned on and worked like a charm. the original logic board seems to have shorted out when the hdmi cable ground was shorted with 120vac live current. the tell tale was the logic board ic burning up so i figured it was kapoot. plus the powersupply board was turning on backlight and 12v sound when i removed the gnd connection from the logic board. when i connected ground all went off. the only signal that was never there was the 0V on the poweron pin(pin3...

now to find this board for less than the price of a used tv, and then to repair the 3rd and remaining monitor i blew

so heres something weird. I was going to start tracing the other side of optocouplers and check voltages when i realized pushing the connector to logic board in on an angle turned on all the powersupplies. as soon as i put the rest of the connector in (the gnd pins) the tv/baclight turned off. i also started probing on the logic board side to make sure there wasn't a fused or broken via for the ground plane when i noticed the main ic on the logic board was HOT!! without a heatsink that has to be wrong. so it seems like the logic board has crapped out in...

so i traced it to a cap and a zero shunt resistor to a transitor. one side to ts1 and the other to optocoupler um4
let me know if i did it right or if i should take it further

this is what i found. so from pin 2 vcc to pin 4 gnd there was 0volts. also went from pin 2 to pin10 (control ground) 0v. also tried - on filter cap to vcc once again 0 v.Re: insignia ns50d40 dead<br /> <br...ap to vcc once

ok my OCD is kicking in so i retested from the - of the ripple cap to the diode and got 295v.
zds1 cathode 22v
zds11 cathode 1.8v
safety resistor 0.045v

missed the point about the - side of the main filter cap. thanx for the heads up

thanks for help relayer,
i measured all the points but i didnt lift the legs. if needed i will but let me give you voltages first.
measuring vac from Line to ds1 was 202V
measuring vac from line to resistor was 56.8V left side and 62.8V right side
measuring vac from line to zds1 was Anode 62.4V cathode 62.7V
measuring vac from line to zds11 was anode 56.1 cathode 62.3V
The ic is an a6069h heres the pdf https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/183757e980929c222d2cd7ae6914545d.pdfRe: insignia ns50d40 dead

• Re: insignia ns50d40 dead

if the 5.1v_stby powers the logic board and the logic board is broken would it then not trigger the power board from giving the 12v signal and bl_on? instead of worrying about the 12v power missing from the powerboard would i not have to figure out why the logic board is not telling the powersupply from turning on the 12v and the BL_ON? im just guessing here but hoping i stumble towards the right direction with some help

• Re: insignia ns50d40 dead

Does anyone know how to mimic the turn on signal ? it seems power_on is kind of low for a ttl level signal but DET (which ill guess means detect) is missing for triggering completely which leads me to believe it triggers the powersupply?
any useful input would be appreciated
