• Re: Where to buy NVidia BGA chip?

Thanks @rookieme. At least that one looks genuine in the picture. On a lot of the others on ebay, the chip number writing doesn't look right: either too "white" or the wrong font.

Does anyone else in here have any experience of that seller (Strong Exuberant Electronics (HK) Co., Ltd), or of the British seller, "ChipBay UK"?

Sorry if I sound "paranoid", but I've been caught out before and ended up buying fake electronic components online, and changing this BGA is going to take 3 to 4 hours...

I found this one on ebay from a "UK Seller": http://www.ebay.es/itm/Genuine-NVIDIA-G86-630-A2-G86-631-A2-BGA-GPU-Chip-Graphics-IC-Chipset-with-Balls-/121622612268?hash=item1c5145c92c:g:v2cAAOSwpDdU5Gva

Any way of telling if it's genuine?Re: Where to buy NVidia BGA chip?<br...va<br />

There are loads of links on eBay, but I've heard too many "horror stories" about re-badged seconds, 603's and 630's to trust that what I'd be getting is genuine.

Obviously, I need to stay away from Chinese ones for $10 with photoshopped pictures, but other than that, I'm lost.

Please can you recommend a good trustworthy supplier for these BGA chips?

    Is there any way I...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi everybody! My name is Ian and I've been fiddling with computers since 1972, when they were the size of houses and we thought ourselves lucky to have a whole kilobyte of RAM! These days, I run a computer workshop by day, specialising in build and repair of machines for Audio Visual applications, work as a singer/entertainer/dj in the evenings (hence the cryptic username, which is my "dj/producer name"), and then relax in the small hours of the morning by writing computer code! I guess you could say I was a geek before...
