• Re: Reliable manageble poe switch

True that. I use all rj45 cable runs for phone or data. And patch down the correct pairs. Only the middle two pair for analog phones are uses tip and ring and keeps things flexible if you ever need to change one port to another....

Another option, highly recommended, download pfsense router and turn on “suricata” an IDS/ips. It will block those connection attempts at the ip level with rules you can turn on and off. It's a really sweet plugin for pfsense.

Exactly what it is, most mb have a setting to power on after ac power lost. Good for server and headless. I use it in most of my stuff.

Taking the battery out reset the cmos thus the setting is revert back to default, to stay off. You can also open cmos menu and reset all settings back to default....

    I’m late to the party
    1) iperf test though your equipment, with modern hardware like a laptop. This will identify bottleneck. There’s precompiled windows and Linux binaries.

    2) dump the crap routers and do your self a favor by installing pfsense on an old pc with two NICS or a virtual machine. Try to use something with pci-e to achieve full throughout.

Late here but you will be happy with a Cisco 3560G poe and can be had in eBay for $100-$200 depending on port size. It's not very compact but sure as hell reliable!

the benefit you get from 6 is the same as 4. You can talk communicate over the wires.

We just run out of 4 so we create some crazy workarounds..NAT. So real benefit if 6 is less complex networks....

    Re: IP version 6

NAT Is a total illusion to security. Nat or not, if your network is not set up properly im getting in.. no if ands more buts about it. All NATs doing is making me more pissed off bc it makes me think a bit more bc extra layer of useless complexity. Makes me curse and drink more while doing so. Do you want pissed off/sloppy half drunk hacker or happy hacker roaming your network? LOL jk. jk but my point remains.

NAT is just a bandage. Def not how true networking intended to be. NAT is a workaround to why my ISP wont allocate me a nice block so i can...

CBT nuggets is greatvideo series. Seriously watch the whole series and go pass your CCNA. lol. Im using a 2611XM, as my current home router has 2 FA ports, also added a fxs/fxo ports to play with telephony (CME), there is a nugget on that too :p. search google with wildcard for ios file names and you should be able to get up to 12.4 or 12.6 to get the zone base firewall feature. adv-k9 or something like that....

by any chance is norton 360 or internet security installed on either. OR any toolbars from antivirus? do you have antivirus?

oh also i would def. check the connection, exactly as retiredcaps describes.
I have a feeling your connection is fine since you have other computers working just fine. but bad cables do happen.

lol - imho, both suck, actually they all suck, but we HAVE TO HAVE IT. ALTHOUGH they do have ipv6 rolled out to some customers, where my ISP bright house is slacking!! err

anyway sounds like you may have a virus. For this i would ensure your system is clean before troubleshooting further, save you some time and assurance down the troubleshooting road.

    my favs:
    combofix
    malware bytes

for the pesky google/search redirect, use above then use:

    Thanks, that website is great.

as a matter of fact all of the elite and jamicon ones are bulged (hard to see from pic) so all will replaced. But that makes perfect sense as to why i would replace all of the same ones even if they otherwise look ok.

Being as impatient as i am, i would like to run out and pick up replacments today.
Is radioshack a bad idea? seems they are all NTE brand

I have pics, my camera is not the best quality...

After looking at it, right away i see 8 bad craps (bulging) on the power supply, one of them oozing.

I will take your suggestion 9x9, replace those and go from there. Im almost certain it will fix this problem.

    2x Jamicon?10v 1000uf
    6x elite 35v 470uf

Is there a rule of thumb for capacitors replacement can go by as i dont have exact ones? I have various ones laying around but different voltages and capacitance....

started a topic BenQ FP91G+ wont stay on

    BenQ FP91G+ wont stay on

    Hello crowd!

I have come for suggestions about a BenQ FP91G+ LCD.

I know only enough about electrical components (board level) to be dangerous however Im a wizard at using them. I do learn and understand fast With that said i dont know where to begin and would appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

when i plug the LCD in and press the power button, the power LED comes on green then turns off right away

The inverted MAY be fried, but at this point i believe that is irrelevent since the power LED wont even stay on.

  • Re: SSD worth it? recommendation? for this computer

    Norton?! that is your problem...

SSD are smoking fast, makes world of difference on my 6y/o dell core2duo.

if your disk is near full that will cause windows to freak and frag like crazy = sloooow

if still slow then prob a virus snuck in there. Actually i can almost guarantee there is some form malware.
