Both fuses at this time check 393 volts on both sides.
Before I knew not to use chassis as negative for checking voltage on hot side of board I was probing at different locations on board and had what appeared to be a short (sparks jumping to test lead).
Yesterday morning on cold side of board I had 5.3 volts not on stby terminal. That was not there before. So I plugged all boards in as they should be. I am not sure why but at this time my continuously clicking relay has stopped. Have not had the chance to check any further....

Truth be told I had misread about checking voltage to negative of big caps. I was reading it as check voltage on the caps not using the negative to check all voltages on hot side of board.Leave a comment:

Both capacitors have what looks like 393 volts. FS801 voltage was both sides of fuse to chassis ground.Leave a comment:

After rechecking both relays appear to be working.
Back to the fuses. One is incoming power of 120 volts. checks good. One in the middle of the board labeled FS801 T2AH/250V, it has 167 v at it. The one at the top is labeled FB803 T5AH/250V, it has no voltage at it. Should it?Leave a comment:

I have to ask. When you say primary voltage I think my incoming line voltage of 120. Is this incorrect? I see two larger brown caps on left side of board is this what you are referring to?
So to make sure I would check the right place from which points do I need to check for voltage? And I am checking for dc volts not ac volts.
Can you tell me what voltage should be present at the relay that I think is not working and when does it activate? Will it be active when the jumper is applied?

There appears to be two relays on board. One seems to be doing anything. It clicks in and stays. There also appears to be three fuses. They all check good.
Maybe I am not checking the right places for these voltages although I was checking just like the standby voltage.
At upper and lower fuse I have no voltage. At the middle fuse there is 167 volts.Leave a comment:

With jumper in place relay clicks once, and green led light stays constant as well as stby voltage. That is the only voltage present.Leave a comment:

I took a jumper with an alligator clip at both ends and hooked one end to jumper 153 and the other two ground.
Before doing this I isolated board. Only 120v applied. I had stby volts of 5.2 and green LED. with jumper in place absolutely nothing happened. green led stayed on and no relays active.Leave a comment:

At the connector on smps that goes to main board there are 2 rows of pins. between gnd-stby and stby I have 5.2 volts. That harness was unplugged.Leave a comment:

I wish this was easy for me. I am an electrician by trade. I am pretty handy when it comes to working on my auto's. I am sorry to say that my basic electronics are not getting me very far.

As soon as I plug the tv in relay starts clicking. The red standby light blinks on and off with the clicking of relay. The green led light stays on continuous.Leave a comment:

Let me make sure I follow. The main board which gets its power from the smps board and in turn provides the 5 volts back to the smps board?
Is the tv in an on or off state for that to happen?
If the relay on smps and by feel I t seems to be the top one is continually clicking where does one start to look for problem?Leave a comment:

Oh yes it's heavy. Appearance wise all of the caps that look like what call normal capacitor look to be fine. What about this 5v reg. Where exactly is it located? I presume it will be obvious as far as diagnosing. Also at vg it is labeled to have 15volts. It has none.

Good morning all! It is good to have found this forum. Like most things I own if I can fix it myself I will.
I got this tv around 2008-09. After about 2 years had to have the main board replaced.
Now the tv just shut down and started clicking. The red led on front along with it.
I suspect smps board. I unplugged all other boards from it and checked va and vs voltage. I had none.
I have had some basic electronics training in the military and feel confident that I can fix down to the component however like I said basic. I found on forum something...
