Swapping non-halogen free ribbon cable for a halogen-free cable...
Both ribbon cables are 60 pin, 85 mm length, and rated at 105C/60V. The only difference is the original is "halogen-free" and the replacement is not (see pictures below). I'm assuming the halogen-free effort only relates to disposal after the TV has expired, but has no bearing on function. Can someone please weigh-in and let me know if the two are interchangeable?...

Re: LG 47" Ribbon Cable...
Does anyone know of dealers in US that would carry this? I'm desperately trying to get this fixed by Christmas for a family member.
The cable seemed to have worked loose after transporting the TV in my car. This resulted in thin, evenly spaced, horizontal lines across the screen. Tinkering with this ribbon cable seemed to make the lines go away, until it cracked in the middle. I'm really hoping this is a fix, instead of the panel. There were no issues with the TV before transporting so I'm doubting it's the panel or anything other than...

Re: LG 47" Ribbon Cable...
Thanks! I saw that one, was trying to find it domestic (US), but I think I'll have to pull the trigger on that one if I can't find it in the US.
Does the length of the cable matter? Or just the pins?
Thanks in advance, you guys are great!

LG 47" Ribbon Cable...
Does anyone know where I can buy replacement ribbon cable? It's about 3.25" x 1.25" and on the back it reads E129545 AWM 20861 I A 105C 60V VW - 1FT1/FT2 Eunsung - F - Halogen Free." I've attached a picture if that helps....

LG 47LW5600-UA - Thin Horizontal Lines...
I have been searching to find similar issues, but none are quite the same as mine. The horizontal lines I'm seeing are less than 1/4" apart, evenly spaced, black, and seem to become less prominent as you move from right to left when viewing. They are difficult to see for the most part, but they're much more obvious on a white background. There is no obvious wear on the ribbon, no oxidation, and every other connect seems tight. Any ideas? I recently drove the TV back from Atlanta to Charlotte to return it to a friend I had borrowed it from. It was secured and protected with cushions and pillows...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey everyone. I'm a chemist/materials scientist trying to fix an issue with thin horizontal lines on my TV screen. Despite having an academic understanding of exactly how just about every component works, from the capacitors to the liquid crystals, I have absolutely no idea how to fix a TV. I need help!
