Re: LCD TV and Monitor basic troubleshooting guides
OK i spent some time and discovered the following.
Bad cap C131 had value of 39uF and ESR of 2ohm. It should be 47uF and 70mOhm. So ESR was way higher than needed.
C102 was OK with capacitory, however, ESR was 0.173ohm. I replaced it anyway.
Since I did not have tantalum capacitor and could not keep TV open I had to fix it right away. I used 39uF 100V ChemiCon capacitors, 3 of them in parallel so I got ESR exactly 0.070ohm while capacitance was around 120uF.
These caps were...Last edited by skafiskafnjak; 07-09-2017, 01:01 PM.

Re: Recommend me a MultiMeter
My recommendation (price&quality&long life):
Soldering station: Goot PX-201 $49
http://www.howardelectronics.com/goot/px201.html
Multimeter: Fluke 12 (get used one on Ebay $50), dont invest money il those no-name brands, one mistake and you can damage that meter. Fluke you can not damage, its well protected and you can always resale it!
ESR meter: Get analog ESR meter like MUL-3333 $50, its faster to work with than digital meter.
Where to get DC jack for HP laptops?
Does anybody know for source where to get DC jacks for HP and Compaq laptops?
I see them on ebay but they cost $4-5 each. Their real price should not be more than $0.50.
I am looking to buy 100 of each popular ones.

Re: Cheap Chinese Cap Meter
If you are looking for a good capacitor tester get Sencore LC102 or LC103.
Otherwise get ESR meter MUL-3333, its around $40 and do the job like the ones that cost $300.

Re: Would just recapping solve my problem - desoldered MOSFETs
I would say before that MOSFET on the picture was like that when it was new.
Transistor usually can not handle over 90C and solder melt around 260C BUT in this case temperature had to go over 330C. There is no way to resolder that FET with temperature under 300C because board is draining temperature.
(unless you have 150W soldering station with fast tepmerature recovery)

Re: Mul-3333?
I have this meter and its garbage.
Its resolution between 0 and 1 ohm is very small and this is most important one.
On-Off switch went bad after a while.
Right now it have some other contact problem that I did not troubleshoot yet.
Scale is cheap one.... Electronic circit is using 2 LM393 as I remember. Circuit design seems to be very good one but because they are using cheap analog meter they had to compensate range..
I am planing to take the board out and make this meter with a new large high...

Re: Fortron FSP-ATX-400PNF
I am using these power supplies in all my custom built PC's for a long time and never had any problem with them.

Re: emachines T2642 board killed by bestec 250
I just have the same case on my bench.
These power supplies have problems with 100uF 25V and 220uF 25V capacitors in the primar circuit as well as with 22ohm SMD resistor from the other side of the board.
I fixed PS but motherboard does not start at all. It probably have some chip burned.
Is there a way to replace these southbridge's? I have hot air station but never tried it.....???
Also is the any REPLACEMENT MOTHERBOARD for these eMachines which will be compatible...

Help me identify part - SD4 0G (diode)
I am working on laptop motherboard. Found short diode, it is SMD type and all I found on it is: SD4 and bellow that 0G.
Does anybody know what kind if diode is it? I am sure it is schottky diode because there is one more in unit that is good. It read 155mV with multimeter and that mean it is schottky.......

Re: Are Sparkle power supplies good?
Sorry could not see it, im new memer and dont have access to picuters yet..
I use ATX400PN and SPI350W for all computers that I build or repair. Never had any of them back.

Fortron make them for Sparkle. They are exactly the same but Sparkle offer better price

Re: Soldering Station Help
I have Pace ST-70 new version, its not bad.
With motherboards you need soldering station with quick response, ST50 is more for standard boards that does not have multilayer prints.
It can be usd but you have to go with higher temperatures and it can damage prints.
The best one for motherboards is JBC, these are ready for 3 seconds when you turn them on. Also they last longer and have 5 years warranty. Tips last 4-5 times longer.
With them you can remove capacitors with 320C easy.

Re: DMM and rework station help
For best meter use Fluke, analog meter use Simpson or Iskra
For best soldering stations use JBC, average ones Weller, Pace or hakko.
For best capacitor tester use Sencore LC103
For best ESR meter use http://i6.ebayimg.com/02/i/07/0a/6c/1f_1_b.JPG
These are my favorites. Re: DMM and rework station help<br /...r hakko.<br />
