  • Re: Vizio VO37L power problem

Just like to know if there is someone with a board like this and can tell me the values of those components.

Thanks budm, that was very helpful. I get infinite resistance from the VIA next to the damaged pad of L18 to C78 and CB62. Actually, I couldn't find a connection to any other part of the circuit to that VIA. But at one corner of the damaged pad there's still a piece of conductor which connects to one end of C31. The other end of C31 seems to connect to ground. But the other pad of L18 gives about 953 ohms to C78 and CB62.

Sorry, I don't know what VIA is. Can you give a little more detail?

L18 and CB62 do not seem to be connected directly. The top of L18 is connected to R88 and the piece of the board where the lower end of L18 is supposed to be connected is damaged, but it seems to connect to C31 at the right. I think C31 is open. It shows infinity even at the highest setting of the multimeter. It is possible the damage was caused by the caps that where blown on the inverter?...

I decided to carefully remove the heat sink, to see if there are any more components below it, and found a CB62 also blown......

Hi. I don't know if I should start a new thread, but since the symptoms are similar I though it was OK to post here. I'm not a tv technician. I'm a diy'er with some experience repairing desktop and laptop computers for friends an family, so when a friend was going to get rid of a Vizio VO37LHDTV10A I decided it was a good opportunity to learn more about electronics. Before doing anything else, I did a visual inspection and found the capacitors in the inverter board blown. So I replaced the board. The tv shows the same symptoms that led me to this thread;...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi. I'm from Puerto Rico. I have always been fascinated with electronics, but never took it seriously. I've been unemployed for almost three years. I love to do all kinds of DIY projects and get my hands dirty, which has helped me to learn about other things and get some small jobs around. So I decided to include electronics in that list, start reading about it and start learning.
