Re: M-Audio BX5-a (Bad Caps)
Gotcha.
I think all the problems on my audio equipment is related to the power supply only, so I am not going to do anything more to the board until I replace the power supply caps.
Cheers!...

Cornell Dubilier purchase Panasonic's Aluminum foil plant.
I think this news is relevant to the forum...
I don't know too much about this, but that sounds to good news for me.
Cheers!...

Re: M-Audio BX5-a (Bad Caps)
This is already done. The replacement are Cornell Dubilier Electronics caps.
I assume that there is nothing wrong with Cornell since I couldn't find nothing against them.
... and yes, the board was cleaned. ...

Re: Behringer Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO Bad Capacitors
Even if I have the time, I wouldn't. I am not that good soldering double side boards. Is something that I really should learn. I am having trouble already re-soldering two caps that I was testing. The power supply on the other hand is a regular board.
I try this before with another problem and they basically gave me the contact of my local repair center. I have to assume that right now every Behringer made 4 years ago are having the same problem. At least that's what I've found on...Last edited by GateCap; 08-12-2010, 01:07 PM.

Re: Behringer Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO Bad Capacitors
Thanks guys, great feedback.
All power supply caps must go. I don't want to take chances and they are affecting the board already in a big way.
I am pretty much sure that all the problems that I have with the mixer is because the power supply.
I've been doing extensive testing with oscilloscope and multimeter today and my early conclusion is that the power supply is the only problem.
The audio problems and effects problems are not from the main board... *(thanks for catching...Last edited by GateCap; 08-12-2010, 01:04 PM.

Re: M-Audio BX5-a (Bad Caps)
Looks like that's it.
I am not dealing with leaked capacitors every day, so I wanted to see an UFO and I did.
The fact is that all those M-Audio monitors are going down one by one for the same reason, so I thought the cap was already leaking. It was bad enough that the monitor wasn't working anymore.
Thank you for the welcome, this is a great forum.

Behringer Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO Bad Capacitors
BEHRINGER Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO Bad Capacitors
BEHRINGER ULTRA-CURVE PRO Bad Capacitors
Here is another project, but this one is on stand by.
BEHRINGER Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO first.
As soon I finish to open this sucker (with infinite amount of knobs) the aha moment was just waiting for me. One capacitor leaking showing why the effects on the mixer doesn't work anymore.
Another bulged capacitors where found on the power supply. No brainer, I'll change those one too. To make the story short on the ULTRA-CURVE PRO, the same problem with the...Last edited by GateCap; 08-11-2010, 04:39 PM.

M-Audio BX5-a (Bad Caps)
M-Audio BX5-a Studio Powered Monitors Bad Capacitors.
Looks like M-Audio is another victim on this issue. If you check the official forum the only response is from the consumers, but there is no word from M-Audio.

I've fixed my pair and replaced the faulty capacitors. (Unknown brand), 25v 6800μF (105°C).
Replaced with Cornell-Dubilier Capacitors, and now both monitors are working...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
First off, let me take this opportunity to thanks Topcat. This site is exactly what I was looking for under the circumstances and magnitude of this cap-disaster.
I live in Dallas, Texas, I am on my late 30's and studying Electric Engineering for a change. It was matter of time to take my geek level to this stage and I am proud of doing it after all this years. Alternative energy is my field of interest, but electronics in general is my scope at this moment. I also have a home recording studio and guess who have...
