Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Missed it somehow in the menu under plug and play and it was on store demo mode. We all have personal preferences and since I am use to viewing a front projector in a dark room I also watch the tv in the same setting - I found the back light at 6 and brightness at 30 still quite sufficient and hopefully the lower settings will also prolong led life.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
I have another question - after changing settings in the menu to Movie and going through back light, contrast, brightness etc. to where I like it the set defaults back to "Dynamic" after about 30 minutes, my understanding is that the tv will go to what us termed "Shop Mode" and that I need to change it to "Home Mode". Does anyone know how this is accomplished with this set?
I saw the procedure for an LN series but not sure if it is the same. Thank you for any help with this!

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Just to let anyone interested that the used replacement main board has fixed the problem, I guess I can keep the original as a souvenir - hopefully the tv will give me at least a year of use, guess I will find out. Thank you to those who offered their advice and knowledge, even in other threads where I was able to learn more.
Anyone have advice on removing streaks from the screen? I was using some proper cleaner and cloth but it appears to be quite difficult to completely remove, though I do not notice anything when...

Re: Samsung corrupt mainboards
I have the situation involving no BLU ON or PWM DIM as well as low OD LEVEL and OD ON with a Samsung main board # BN94 = 05113E / BN97 - 06022C and ordered a known to function used replacement. Would there be any possibility of someone knowledgeable to perhaps try and fix a possible eeprom issue if that is the reason for failure?
Are some of these Samsung main boards more problematic than those from other brands?

Re: whole new repair / learning world... plasma! Yikes!
Not to interfere with this thread but as I saw a 50" Panasonic plasma locally for 30 obo ( TC P50VT25 - June 2010 ) that has mostly thin black vertical lines across the screen, described by the Seller, no images of it and I have yet to look personally but my understanding is that the panel is most likely no good?
It does function so all the boards are good - worth it for parts ( doubt I could use any them for my late 2012 U50 ) perhaps?Last edited by Wellington1; 01-10-2018, 07:18 PM.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Found a main board on Ebay for just under 50.00 shipped, a BN94-05113C that should be compatible, was from functioning set that had a cracked screen. I doubt I could have found one for less and hoping this does the trick.
I do not know what else I could have reasonably checked but sometimes one has to take a chance when the odds are it is the board causing the issues. I appreciate the help and advice I have received here, it definitely has been a learning experience!
If the tv finally works it would be great...Last edited by Wellington1; 01-10-2018, 12:09 PM.

Re: Samsung main board compatibility
freakaftr8 - I initially thought that perhaps it was a version of my main board I could use, so scratch that idea! I have another thread here regarding this tvs failure to turn on:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=64411
I obviously do not want to confuse the issue with another thread and so far all indications are that it is in all probability the Main board. No front indicator light, turns on by itself when plugged in, no response from remote or power on button. I mention this in that...

Re: Samsung main board compatibility
Comparison between the Main board from my tv and one I found on Ebay ( BN94-05113F ):
I finally noticed that the second connection on the right side, from the bottom is not the same, I counted 8 pins to the board versus 9 on mine, and it is not the same design so I think it is obviously not going to work. The wires go to the control buttons ( power etc. ) so not sure what difference there could be....Last edited by Wellington1; 01-07-2018, 08:07 PM.

Samsung main board compatibility
I have a UN60D6420UFXZA that has a strongly suspected main board issue -I posted in another ongoing thread about whether I might be able to use a similar one that is from a UN60D6000SF, that board and mine both have the number BN41-01587E right into the board,, mine was labeled as well with BN97-06022C as well.
Checking various sites online that sell boards I have come across cross referencing that says that the number BN94-05115A has compatible numbers ending in C,D,and E which can be substituted. The number for Samsung tv UN60D6000SF uses a main board with the number...

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
I finally decided to check voltages on those main board regulators and got the following:
A) 1.79V / 3.29V
B) 3.3V / 5.3V
C) 3.2V / 5.3V
D) 1.18V / 3.29V
E) 1.79V / 3.29V
Also. I manage to read what appears to be R19183 / 12GGFDKD on the smallest regulator in position D, very difficult to accurately decipher.
For the heck of it I checked the two fuses immediately above the AC plug on the PS board, the horizontal one was 63V, vertical fuse read 54V, anything out of the ordinary...

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Looking at substitute main boards it looks as though I could use either of these:
BN94 - 05113A, C, D, E, or F.
The numbers on the actual main board on my tv are: BN97 - 06022C as well as BN41 - 01587E. I did notice that board number BN97 - 06033D has been associated with the substitute part number BN94 - 05115F. It is enough to give one a headache if you are not careful!
I found an F board for a much more reasonable price than any others , if I can use it I would give it a...

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Two months later and I have yet to take things further with this tv, I guess having a Panasonic Plasma 50" from late 2012 has satisfied me enough, in fact knowing that the 60" Samsung will not really be able to match the black levels and overall image quality of the Panasonic will be a step back, still I do intend on getting it working and try to squeeze some further viewing time from it.
I have not tested those regulators on the main board yet, everything appears to point to it being the problem. I did...Last edited by Wellington1; 01-03-2018, 02:10 AM.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
budm - worth checking the voltages on each IC? Read somewhere about how to do that, also, would any of them have something to do with the OD ON / OD LEVEL voltages? Still looking to find out what they should be.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Dick - I managed to read all of them except for position D, the printing is very small and extremely difficult to highlight, perhaps with more magnification and a stronger light I can then make it out, at the moment I am not able to magnify further, as for the others the numbers are:
A) 17-18Z
1141FG
B) 17-33Z
1132CG
C) 17-33Z
1132CG
D) ?
E) 17-18Z
1141FG
Hope you can make something out of those numbers!Last edited by Wellington1; 10-24-2017, 07:41 PM.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
The site I used to find a possible cause does not list the voltages at that 20 pin connector. Maybe someone here knows the values for the OD ON as well as OD LEVEL - as I mentioned earlier the fact that the Main boards for these sets sell quite readily and are often not in stock is telling, I still wonder if doing the oven re flow trick might be worth trying just to see.
Here is an image of the main board:

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
The back light leds did not turn on, only when the cable between the Main and PS boards was disconnected did they light up, and of course the relay stopped clicking as well.
As the back lights function the problem seems to be pointing towards the Main board, I know one can use some resistors and bridge between 5V Standby and I believe PS ON and BLU ON at the connector on the Main board side which would, if back lights come on, suggest a Main board issue, worth a try or do the voltage readings say the same thing?...Last edited by Wellington1; 10-23-2017, 12:30 PM.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
Still wondering about the led power on indicator flashing quickly twice and doing this five times after the tv is unplugged, again each time the relay clicks, which it does twice. I think I noticed the power on led also blink twice when the tv is first plugged in, otherwise it is never lit.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
After checking the easier to access odd number connections on the PS board at the hard wired connector the readings are:
PIN #
1 OD LEVEL 1.88
3 OD ON 2.21
5 GND 0
7 B13V 12.68
9 B13V 12.68
11 VAMP 17.0
13 VAMP 17.0
15 GND 0
17 B5V 5.35
19 B5V 5.35
As the relay clicked the voltages would drop at most, to be expected I assume as it cycles. As soon as I can find a needle or something similar I will try the even numbered pins....Last edited by Wellington1; 10-22-2017, 03:52 PM.

Re: Samsung UN60D6420UFXZC Not turning on
So grounding of the main board would not be an issue? Just want to be sure! I can have something like a small box to carefully lay the board onto and minimize stress. Do I leave any other cables attached?
