Re: Acer AL2216w backlight issue
hey bill
after taking a look at the underside there was no obvious connection to the windings as they were covered in plastic on that side.
i've been looking for broken models but after taking a look at this board i realized that the same model number used different power inverter boards.
might be time to sell it on ebay for parts.
thank you for all of your help. i greatly appreciate it

Re: Acer AL2216w backlight issue
just rechecked. it still reads as open. used the continuity test to verify the leg on top is indeed connected to the solder joint and the connector and all tests well....

Re: Acer AL2216w backlight issue
there are 4 sockets (s1-s4) and 4 cfl connectors marked as upper and lower blue and pink
s1: Upper Blue + Upper Pink show nothing
s2: All CFLs flash when connected here.
s3: all cfls connected do not flash and the acer logo is not visible however the "no input" box is VERY FAINT but possible to see.
s4: same as s3
there is an audible, intermittent very high pitched (above 8Khz) buzzy sound when a cfl is connected to s3 and s4.
A-A,B-B,C-C,d-D:...

my 22" acer flatscreen has just pooped out on me.
The backlight powers on for about 1-2 seconds then powers off. It comes on when you turn it on to see the acer logo. then again for about a second whilst it shows the desktop then it's off. i can see that the desktop is still functional and displayed in the background.
I replaced all of the 470uf caps on the power board. no other changes have been made. its still doing the same thing. for the record: none of the caps were bulging or looked bad. i figured this was the easiest possible fix and...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
hey all
new member here
i'm here because i'm a cheap skate and i love fixing stuff.
on mondays i often take a garbage/recycling walk in the nice neighborhood about a block away in my high-population density city. i've found a couple of computers, some nice framed art work, really nice place settings from crate and barrel and my most recent find: a busted 19" lcd flat screen. i replaced the caps in the power section and booya! i've now got a second monitor for $10 in caps and about 2...
