Samsung CRT TV letters or text is shadowing
Hi.
I have some problem with old CRT TV Samsung model: CW-29Z338T, 29" size TV.
The problem is that letters and other text are not clear, text or letters are shadowed on the right side.
I found 2 capacitors on CRT Picture Tube Board.
47uF/400V was leaking very bad, the second cap 10uF/250V was bad ESR reading so i replace this cap also.
Replacement these 2 capacitors did not help nothing.
I try to reduce brightness, contrast and sharpness. There is very small effect on this shadow.
To reduce G2 down have more effect...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster T220 problem
I also check this option, jammed buttons.
No any switch was jammed. One switch was a little tired when i compare to others.
I replace this switch. Multimeter readings show no any problem with switch.
The most important was pcb cleaning i think.
But still monitor housing need to be open, some service manuals should be used for opening this housing with
14 hidden clips.
Horrible Samsung monitor, easy to assemble almost impossible to disassemble without damaging the clips.
No any bad capacitor...Last edited by JohnNovak; 03-09-2020, 12:49 PM.

Samsung Syncmaster T220 problem
Hi.
New problem with monitor Samsung Syncmaster T220.
Monitor works fine for months, it is used monitor.
Today is start to show brightness and is adjusted to 100 with not pressing any right side buttons.
Picture also goes black for 0.5 seconds every 5 seconds.
Probably need to check power board caps?
Any experience with this problem?

Re: Gigabyte GA-7N400 rev.2.0 BIOS problem
I check already, can not see any fault cap as usual shows fault when goes dry.
I have 5.1V line voltage i think us OK.

Re: Gigabyte GA-7N400 rev.2.0 BIOS problem
Hi.
I check voltages with digital multimeter.
I replace power supply.
I change RAM, change processor, reflash bios 4 versions, reset bios...
Still +5V FAIL.
What else can i do?
Replace bios chip with new, can not because i order new chips but not received order.
Replace motherboard will be answer.

Re: Gigabyte GA-7N400 rev.2.0 BIOS problem
Hi.
I finally solve bios problem, desolder bios chip, solder plcc32 socket and sucesfully reflash the chip in other motherbard.
I put bios chip on board and motherboard works normal.
I reflash bios again on original motherboard.
Now i have new unknown problem in bios, +5V check fail?
Never see that kind of fault.
Any suggestion?...

Re: Philips 20PF4121/58 power inverter board problem
R_J.
I check resistor all OK.
I have no idea how to fix DC output to 14.5V.
I think TL431 have nothing with 12V output.
Can we check what is possible issue with buttons on TV?
TV have basic buttons on the top.
Power, vol -, vol +, MENU, P-, P+.
Some buttons not respond correctly.
This issue was present before and still make problem.

Re: Philips 20PF4121/58 power inverter board problem
Thanks.
I will check again resistors in that area.
There was electric shock here which destroy TL431, maybe i did not check good before.
I found some issue or maybe is not?
When i use scart input and i power OFF TV and power ON again there is no backlight back. I must disconnect power cable to get backlight operation.
When TV is on channel mode backlight works OK.

Re: Philips 20PF4121/58 power inverter board problem
Hi again, R_J.
I finally receive new TL431.
I replace both Q111 and Q105.
DC outputs exactly the same, so one was faulty, one was good.
All resistors shows original value.
Still worry about high +12V output which is 15.36V.
This is more than 10% which is allowed by factory, 13.2V will be normal.
TV works normal, is it safe to run with so high +12V output?

Re: Gigabyte GA-7N400 rev.2.0 BIOS problem
Hi.
I found another problem at motherboard.
The space for plcc32 smd socket is very limited.
Some sockets simple do not fit, because they are too big. (21x18mm).
The only socket wich fit is smaller version, 19.5x17mm.
Not available on Ebay.
What is available on Ebay sellers have no idea what is dimension.
Nobody can measure the dimension, they don't care.
Also it is very important center shape which can easy be cut and removed for hand soldering.
it is not easy to remove bottom...

Re: Philips 20PF4121/58 power inverter board problem
R J, i have some good news.
Today i replace Q105 with TL431 i got power up with DC outputs:
+10V = 12.42V ???
+3.3V = 3.51V is OK
+12V = 15.36V should be 14.4V ??
I'm a little worried about +12V and +10V high outputs.
I will replace Q111 and Q105 with new TL431 and then will see what outputs will be.
TV works normal.Last edited by JohnNovak; 01-10-2019, 02:54 PM.

Re: Philips 20PF4121/58 power inverter board problem
Let we take a look one detail about TL431, if you have any new outside of pcb board,
if you measure with analog ohm meter x1 from pin3 to pin1 do you have any resistance readings like normal diode and from pin1 to pin3 no resistance?

Re: Philips 20PF4121/58 power inverter board problem
It looks the same to me like on the picture.
I make some photo but very hard to make good quality picture.
I have 10ohm readings at Q105, pin 1 and pin3 in both direction so i desolder out this part,
looks is damaged.
Pin3 goes to gnd, yes. Looks we have voltage reference here.
Q105 have pin3 to gnd, Q111 have no grounded pin.
I put pin out on the picture, should be correct?...Last edited by JohnNovak; 01-10-2019, 04:15 AM.
