Re: Lenovo G50-30 no POST on powerup
no, and it's getting to be quite an issue with the customer.
I haven't checked dramrst, but as i've said in the 1st post, ALL power rails that i could measure are present and good.
So far we think it's a fried CPU, it's not the first lenovo with soldered CPU that has died

Lenovo 320-15isk intermittent powerup
Hello,
i have a curious issue with a lenovo V320-15ISK, it came for a (completely unrelated)software issue and "developed" a failure:
It doesn't want to turn on everytime, we've tested the keyboard and it's ok, sometimes you have to try to power it up using the emergency power jumper next to the keyboard connector and it powers up and stays on just fine, but several other time this doesn't work.
Once it's on, if you press the power button it turns off just fine.
i've tested a bios reflash and doesn't do anything, previously tested a BIOS update to...

Re: HP zbook 15u g3, doesn't work with AC
ah sorry i answered without the actual datasheet in front of me and the discharge fet you mention is the "battery drive" FET driven by BATDRV, since you said discharge i thought it was the low side drive FET(LODRV).
i will check that FET today...

HP Probook 430G2, no POST and alternating VDDQ
Hello,
i have a HP Probook 430G2 (Compal LA B171P) that does the following WEIRD things:
When you plug the AC adapter(no battery), the white ac detecton led on the power plug starts blinking rapidly and erratically(like a short or bad connection) for a couple seconds, then blinks orange once and then stays off.
computer turns on by itself with no POST, no beeps, no LEDs.
since there are no schematics i used the LA-B181P schematic that was recommeded in the forum.
all voltages seem check OK, BIOS has 3.3v, pwoer button, standby...

Re: HP zbook 15u g3, doesn't work with AC
if the battery discharge fet is shorted, then it wouldn't work with battery(or battery would overheat and last very little or blow the fet), yet it is working normally on battery and i've not noticed any fet heating up on batt.
i will recheck for shorts but i don't think i found any...

Re: HP BIOS unlock tool
Worked like a charm on a HP Probook 4520s
it had bios setup password, desoldered flash, dumped bios, removed passwrod, reprogram, win!. After this i could finally update the BIOS(as it was super outdated).
Testing with a different bios dump yielded no boot

Re: HP zbook 15u g3, doesn't work with AC
The controller is a TI bq24780s, SIO is nuvoton npce586ha0mx
More testing i did and reverse engineering to find the components and some oddities, did a table with AC, BAT and BAT+AC:
AC Only:
As i stated in the previous post: internal rail is at 19V:
ACDRV: 26V
BATDRV: 12V
VCC: 19,26V
ACOK: 3.33V
BATT(battery terminals): 11,9
PHASE: 20,78 (this is an oddity, the phase pin has 20.78 DC, but the battery connector has only 11,9V)
i also...

Re: HP zbook 15u g3, doesn't work with AC
I did check with the datasheet and everything seems ok:
ACDET is at 2.77V, ACOK is at 3.33V
ACDRV is at 25V and both input mosfets are active and passing the 19V to the internal bus
yet it doesn't turn on ...

Re: Lenovo G50-30 BIOS dump and fixes?
I forgot to mention that i did download the bios from lenovo site, used a converter on the .fd file but didn't try it.
¿what do i do with the DMI region you mentioned?, i notice that in your file(as well as the one i converted) it's empty(save from LENV at the start) but in the dumps it's full of data
¿Do i clean the ME region of the downloaded file as well or just ignore it?...

Lenovo G50-30 BIOS dump and fixes?
Hello,
i'm having an issue with a Lenovo G50-30 that doesn't boots:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=88408
in that thread they told me to dump my BIOS for someone to clean the ME, i did it myself with a cleaner but maybe i did something wrong, the MB is still failing the same way.
i'm attaching the BIOS dumps i have, one is the original motherboard that failed, the other is from another motherbaord of the exact same model(that has blown components not related to bios) and that dump with ME cleaned.Hello,
i'm having...

Re: Lenovo G50-30 no POST on powerup
i already managed to clean the ME settings after finding a guide, it didn't work.
I also have another exact same model motherboard with another failure(blown EC), so i swapped flash chips between motherboards... nothing, same failure.
I dumped that motherboard flash and did a ME cleanup, same issue.
so far the bios i've tested are: one downloaded from the post i mentioned, no work
swapped flash chips with another exact same model, no work.
dumped that flash and cleaned ME region, no work....

how to do that?, i've never done it before with a BIOS dump, i just googled and found wildly varying information...

Re: List of pin compatible Laptop ICs
i don't think so, whilst they're pin-compatible, the mode pin takes completely different resistors (i'm having this exact same issue), since 51716 can control up to DDR4 and has much higher switching freq. (500 to 670Khz) whilst 216 goes to 400Khz...
