Nvidia Shield Current Switch replacement
Hey, looking at a Nvidia shield with no power, and this Current Switch labelled '1059A' heats up when plugged in. I have no real experience with Shields so could anyone tell me or link me a replacement? Thanx in advance!...

HP Motherboard - BCU Tool access denied
Hi everyone, I replaced a customers HP desktop's motherboard, first time ever replacing the full motherboard.
After replacement, when booting up I get the message "Invalid or missing product information" etc, I'll include a picture. When entering the pc will just boot fine, but this doesn't look too professional towards the customer.
With the help of Google I found out I have to use the Bios Configuration Tool to re-tattoo the serial and such back onto the motherboard, but when I want to do so trough the CMD I get errors saying "access denied". Anyone...

Apple iPad A2197 - stuck on 0.08a
Hi,
Both with the lightning cable or with the powersupply directly on the battery connector the device is stuck on 0.08a powerdraw.
Nothing gets hot at all. I don't work on many iPads so no clue where to go from here.
Took some quick measurements:
PPVCC_MAIN 4.5v
PPVDD_CPU 0.9v
PPVDD_GPU 0.0v (no screen attached so guessing that's normal)
PP0V9_NAND 0.9v
edit:
To put the device aside for a bit I partially put it back together and plugged it in out of curiosity. Devices takes 2.3a one time, until I unplug it. Then...

Re: Samsung A71 does not charge
Any chance we could get a close up picture of the connector where the flex cable (flat cable) plugs into the motherboard? I have worked on many of these devices and in so many cases is that connector. You could also test this by pressing down on the cable when trying to charge to see if it makes a difference.

MacBook A1707 820-00928-A 20V - No boot
Hey, got this macbook in and it's a little strange.
The device (no battery connected) starts at 20V 1.4A, then drops to 0.9a, and then to 0.09a.
The boot sequence seems to complete, but the CPU goes to 100 degrees celcius within 2 seconds, and you can hear a current-like sound coming from it. UB000 and U8605 get hot as well, but no more than 50 degrees celcius. U1100 spikes to 70 degrees celcius as well.
PPVCC_S0_CPU measures around 1V.
I'm tempted to say the CPU is toast, but seems so strange since there is no liquid damage or anything....

Hey, sorry but I quickly gave up on the device because of my lack of experience.

Re: MacBook A2338 (820-02773-005) 5V/0A
Hey mon! Thanx for the resistor link.
I wanted to measure the Q5230, but it's a little unclear how.
Pin 2,3 and 4 are drain, pin 1 and 8 are gate 1 and 2, but where do I measure the source? On the schematic I see it passes XW5230, but is that the testpoint right below the mosfet? I included a picture....

MacBook A2338 (820-02773-005) 5V/0A
Hi, have a MacBook here that has had severe waterdamage. I'm the third person working on it as far as I got the story straight, so no high hopes to begin with.
The device is taking 5V/0A, so the first thing I've checked is PPBUS_AON, it's floating around 1V. I measured at fuse F5200, took the fuse off to make sure it wasn't being dragged down by something else, but stays around 1V.
I'm assuming it's the ISL9240 (U5200) not working properly. I see work done around there, and leftover corrosion. Should I just go ahead and order these, or am I skipping a step here? ...

Re: MacBook A1989 overheating after liquid damage
Removed both CD3215's on the liquid damaged side just to make sure, fully cleaned and reballed. No result, although I did notice for a split second there's a red square around the apple logo when booting, I'll include a picture.
It takes about 1 to 2 minutes for the cpu to get too hot and the machine starts lagging like crazy. Maybe I should just assume bad cpu?...

MacBook A1989 overheating after liquid damage
Hey everyone,
Had a MacBook pro 13" 2018 (A1989) come in for liquid damage. The only liquid damage was all around UB400. It was most likely soda, so there wasn't that much corrosion. I reflowed the UB400 and the QB chips with some flux, and replaced the caps/resistors that were in bad shape. Seemed to be working fine at first, but the next day when testing it again, the laptop charges and boots fine, the CPU would overheat, and U7210 would get to 70 degrees Celsius as well. I'm testing with only screen and battery connected at this point.
I can't figure out how...

Re: Seagate 2TB Mobile HDD
I skipped the PCB without spin, but both old and new pcb don't show anywhere (explorer, device manager, disk manager, or diskpart). The windows recognition is for the docking station I use for HDD's it seems.

Re: Seagate 2TB Mobile HDD
Hey, they didn't show up in disk manager at any point.
I did not use diskpart, I well take out the drive and pcb's again later today if I have time, otherwise monday and test this out.

Seagate 2TB Mobile HDD
Hey everyone!
Trying to get data of a 2TB external drive, the info of the drive:
Brand: Seagate
Model: ST2000LM007
Part nr: 1R8174-570
PCB number: 10835923 REV A
Computer makes a sound that it recognizes the drive, but it shows nowhere. I got a replacement PCB assuming it's a controller issue, but no no drive spin. (I did transfer the BIOS chip!). Got a second PCB, but it shows the same symptoms as the original PCB, drive spins, computer makes the sound, no drive to be seen. So now I'm wondering if they are just incompatible PCB's, or the fault...

Re: A1706 (820-00923-A) Stuck on 5V/30ma
Sorry for wasting your time with the last part, right after posting I found a piece of solder in the trackpad connector shorting it out, once removed all is working fine. Only costed me 2h of my life! Sadly the display is damaged after all, but not related to this repair, client is now deciding if the wants a new display or not. Thank you for the help, this was a really cool repair!

Re: A1706 (820-00923-A) Stuck on 5V/30ma
Hey, sorry didn't see your last reply. The customer doesn't want to pin any display issues on me at all thank god, he was just kindly giving more info about what happened because he brought it in for "no power", but forgot to mention at first that a bit before it happened he had issues with the display.
By now I've replaced the UB090. It solved the looping/charging problem, but then a new problem came up. U8205 heated up, removed it and measured, PP3V3_S0 is shorted to ground. I tried injecting 1V/2.5A, but nothing...
