• DSE GE6878 possible TV receiver dying remote not working well

For this Dick Smith TV GE6878 (Thompson) I replaced the broken remote with a universal it kinda works though if its more than a few meters away sometimes the buttons register and sometimes they wont so I bought another remote from another brand and it has the same problem, I've had an old TV in the past that the sensor died completely and I replaced it to fix it could this be a similar problem? I tried looking for a service manual, spare parts for a receiver and a parts list but I couldnt find any info. can someone please help me to find the info online for a service manual or where I can buy...

Apologies for the long reply but ive taken some pictures for you of the power supply at the moment in my testing tools collection I only have a DMM and soon later I'll buy a capacitance meter and an ESR meter for jobs with caps...

• Altech DSD4121 SAT TV power supply service manaul

I have a friends SAT TV box from Altech model DSD 4121 but I'm looking for a service manual for the power supply, a PJ321R Rev.0 power supply. I need the service manual to check and replace the capacitors as when it is disconnected from the main board the voltages are way too high but with a load the voltages are above normal for 3.3v, 5v and 12v, the unit is still working but not fully as it has 4x ---- lines after "boot" on power up and wont work past "boot", C1 is within its 47uF if the tolerances are 10% (its at 43.5 uF) other than that thats why I would like to have a...

Should they be low ESR and if so how low is low I don't have a lot of experience in this, if for example there is a 160v cap would 200v be good or go even higher...

I would still like to know the info from my first post and I was searching for cap repair kits and found only one so far for a complete cap replacement, has anyone bought from this site before and would they be really old caps with a bad shelf life or does the guys there sell good caps they say the caps are all 100% Nichicon

• Please teach me how to find datasheets to obsolete caps

I've got a Toei arcade CRT chassis and printed on the PCB is CM-R14 but it might be a CM-R20 and so far needs two caps replaced, I've looked on the Nippon Chemi-Con site and got their 2020 catalogue I cant find any info about the first cap in the catalogue or on their obsolete catalogue, on the cap is:

(Radial electrolytic cap) Nippon Chemi-Con 1uF 160v 85c 8mm diameter, roughly 15mm long (cap is bulging at the legs) with 6mm PCB hole spacing, the chassis service manual says this cap C58 is a CE04W with "04" in a smaller font than the capital "CEW" so it must be...

• LTL Acorn 5210A Trail Camera Power Switch

I have an LTL Acorn 5210A trail camera and the power switch needs replacing, there is only one site I found that sell them but they want 12 pounds each I'm in Australia so thats $24 but I see these switches are in all sorts of devices everywhere so I'm hoping to find a cheaper one, I dont know what the pinout is for these switches but I have taken apart the camera down to just the board and removed the switch and hooked up a battery pack (4x AA batteries) to see what the voltages are at the traces where the switch was. In the picture of just the switch it is currently in the off position, it moves...

Thanks CapLeaker I'll try that too do you know if it's OK to remove one output board at a time and power it on, a sort of fault finding?

• Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV Receiver Error Code -Protect-

I have a Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV receiver and when I got it I tested it working fine with speakers but it needed a clean inside because it had signs of moisture in it but it was fully dry with bits of wood chips, I guess this was left in a shed so I fully disassembled it and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol very carefully, some de-soldering was also needed but now its very clean, luckily there was no rust on any components and all the capacitors are fine with no bulging. When I turn it on I hear a relay switch on then a few seconds later another relay switches on or off and the display has a "-PROTECT-"...

• Re: Help to choose caps with different ripple current

I have looked at the data sheets for two brands "Sam Young" and "Samwha" and I found most of them, the ones below are the ones I found with the ripple current value:

Sam Young:
https://www.samyoung.co.kr/product/product_info_miniature.asp

KMG, 25V, 100uF, -55c ~ +105c, +-20%, 6.3mm (diameter) x 11mm (high)
159 rated ripple current (mArms/105c, 120Hz)

KMG, 16V, 100uF, -55c ~ +105c, +-20%, 5mm (diameter) x 11mm (high)

• Help to choose caps with different ripple current

I have a LG RC689D power supply to replace caps but I'm not sure about ripple current values, one cap is 16V 2200uf 105c and I found the two below caps that I'm thinking of getting but do I choose one with a low or high ripple current?

• Re: Help to bring cost down for 15 Caps

Ok, thanks guys my friend said he doesn't mind paying more for the good caps but now I have one query about ripple current, some are low about 920mA and another is high 2.48A unfortunately when I read about AC ripple current it didn't mention if low or high is better as an example one capacitor I need is 16V 2200uf 105c and the two links below are the ones I'm looking at they are basically the same except the ripple current:

• Help to bring cost down for 15 Caps

Hi all, I have 15 capacitors to replace of varying voltage and uF I looked on RS Online but I can only buy them in the least of a 5 pack when I only need one or two or three of a type, so far I'm trying to get the price down from $47.10 and thats without postage so where online is a good place to buy caps in 1,2,3 or 4 at a time. They are all electrolytic caps and I'm choosing Nippon Chemi-Con or Rubycon or Nichicon etc. as long as they are good quality. I need the capacitors in a power supply for a friends DVD/VCR combo player so another question I have is, would all the capacitors be DC and...

• Re: Help to Choose Rotary Switch for Audio Switch Box

Ok all things above considered ill look for a switch from your recommended sources, I switched the ground as I thought singularly would have less noise from the other two channels, if there is a pop I don't mind that because I always turn down the main out on the mixer to zero volume to safely switch between devices, this was said in the manual to not damage the mixer and speakers
