Re: HP BIOS unlock tool
I see. I did also buy a seperate bios chip online, pre-programmed without password.
But that file seems to be written in a new format or something, cause the UserCred is not found if I hex open the rom file.
Only with UEFITool I can find the UserCred and AdminPW sections, so it seems they are packed in the original rom file.
Here is the rom file from the seperate bios chip, clean. Maybe you can find anything in it?...

Re: HP BIOS unlock tool
As you can see in my original bios file, zero-ing until AA55 is a large extension, but I'd like to give that a try.
Is the AA55 itself also supposed to be zero'ed out? Or is AA55 the first non zero data?...

Re: HP BIOS unlock tool
I just used the tool.
Is it better to clear further with hex edit?...

Re: HP BIOS unlock tool
Yes I did, but after going through the bios menu, there was a second prompt for the admin password which was not removed.

Re: HP elitebook 850 G6 bios chip
I managed to read the bios chip with my raspberry pi and flashrom.
To be sure the reading was ok, I read the chip 3 times, all files were the same and the size was 32 MB.
Then I used HP Unlocker to remove the password and I wrote the file to the bios chip.
So far so good, the laptop boots.
When I use esc to enter the bios during startup, I no longer get the screen where the administrator password is asked, and it even lets me boot from usb etc.
But in the bios menu, when I choose the menu...

Re: HP elitebook 850 G6 bios chip
It has legs, so it must be SOP8.
Thanks, I will look for a TL866II then.

Re: HP elitebook 850 G6 bios chip
Thinking about buying this programmer:
https://www.reveltronics.com/en/products/revelprog-is-serial-memory-programmer-usb
In the support list is mentions W25Q256JV
Would it also support the Winbond 25Q256JVEN which is on my Elitebook 850 G6?Re: HP elitebook 850 G6 bios chip
