  • Xbox 360E won't turn on after voltage regulator shorted

Hello, I have a Xbox 360E Stingray where the 3.3VSTB regulator shorted and put 5V on the rail. I think the RAM and eMMC are on this rail. After replacing the regulátor, I get proper 3.3V but the console won't even turn on. Seems the eMMC is dead, I get power to it just fine but JRunner doesn't even detect the console when I hook up my PicoFlasher. Does a dead eMMC/NAND cause the console to not even turn on? Also does this with the eMMC removed, planning to downgrade it to 16MB NAND but want to know if it's a useless effort to save this motherboard. Thanks

  • Yes, everyone was right. I thought that the small caps didn't need replacing since most of the stuff that I've recapped didn't need those changed. I changed all the caps, not just the ones that were visually bad and that fixed it.

  • FSP Epsilon 600W not turning on

Hi, I have a FSP Epsilon 600W computer PSU which had a bunch of bad caps, so I replaced them thinking they were the problem but the PSU still doesn't work. i don't have 5V standby and shorting the PS_ON to GND also doesn't turn it on. Fuse is ok and I get some inrush when plugging in. Does anyone know about any known faults in this series of PSUs?

  • Retro laptop floppy drive not working

Hi, I have a laptop with a Citizen W1D, an infamous drive in the retro computing hobby. They almost always have bad belts, such was the case with this one. However, after replacing the belt, the drive seeks and spins the disk, but the laptop still gives a "No bootable disk" error. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? The heads are clean and are able to move.

  • I think the damage happened after the metal case somehow touched one of the pins of the chip, because there is a darker spot on the case and one of the legs was completely gone. The amp was fine for 2 years but was recently moved and now did this. I added some electrical tape to the case to prevent it shorting in the Future.

  • So after replacing the MOSFET Q254 K3850 with a 2761i, C254 with a .22 WIMA Capacitor, IC252 TC4013 with a Tesla MHF4013 CMOS D-FlipFlop, D261 SN1B60 recitfier, D255 with a 10V zener (2x 5.1V) and repairing the burn traces, the amp came back to life. We found out the board touched the metal casing, so I put some electrical tape there to stop it shorting in the fu ture.

  • Yamaha RX-479 PSU exploded

Hi, I have a Yamaha RX-497 receiver, and one day I came home to a burnt smell and the breaker was tripped. Upon opening the receiver, I saw extreme damage to the main power board. C254 was exploded, R261 was burnt, D255 was shorted, Q254 is open circuit, D261 (bridge rectifier) is also open, traces to IC252 (TC4013BP) are vaporized right off the board. Not sure about any other damage, I'll have to desolder the flip flop to test it. Also the transformer T251 is getting hot when plugged in. What could have caused such extreme damage just sitting plugged in? Only repair that was done in the past...

  • 2700uF instead of 3300uF

Hey guys, I have a question. I need to replace the caps on my og Xbox motherboard, but I can't buy quality capacitors in my country with this specification (everything is either out of stock, with a minimum order of 1000 or just plain too big to fit in the Xbox). Can I replace the 5 3300uF caps with 5 Panasonic 2700uF caps? Thanks

  • Re: LG Flatron W2343T-PF Invertor Transformer Getting Hot

The power board is an AIP-0192 rev. F. The mosfets are Nikos P2504BDG and I measured them and it seems they are working alright. The driver chip is MP61093ES and it seems to be working too. One thing i noticed while taking these pictures Is that someone replaced the varistor....

  • Re: LG Flatron W2343T-PF Invertor Transformer Getting Hot

I have tested the transformer with another CCFL tube and it still heats up. Since I refuse to pay anymore money for this project since the monitor Is from the recycling center i will go there and take some inverter boards with me to take the parts of (mostly the blue high voltage capacitors)

  • Re: High voltage inverter capacitors

I have one transformer for both CCFL tubes. And yes i'm talking about those blue 3pf 6kv capacitors. I measured it using an lcr meter but the resistance Is around 3 M ohm. My transformer is heating up even with working tubes on the output so it must be something in between.
I am also studying the schematic of the inverter circuit but the only things that could fail to make it this hot are two SMD ceramic 4,7uF/25 volt caps.

The EEPROM chip might ne bad and not holding the information very well and self erasing.

  • High voltage inverter capacitors

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a failed capacitor on the output of the inverter transformer? My transformer gets way too hot even with other tubes which I know work fine and the capacitors are connected in parallel to the transformer output. If anyone has experience on this please reply.

  • LG Flatron W2343T-PF Invertor Transformer Getting Hot

Hello, I am having a problem with my monitor. The invertor transformer is getting abnormally hot, the highest temperature i measured was 175°C. Nothing else on the board heats up. The monitor continues functioning but it smells really bad. I have already replaced the inverter transformer as it had a burnt primary winding. I also replaced all the capacitors but it still has a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello, i repair things i find in the recycling center mostly as a hobby but sometimes resell them for a little bit of profit.
