Hi all,
I am having an issue unlocking BIOS password on a 1040 G3, please see attached files(1-original unlocked, 2-unlocked via HPUnlocker, 3-unlocked via RCUnlocker). The original locked file was extracted using a EZP2019 SPI programmer, the notebook would get the infamous CAP Lock flashing, CPU spin high speed after reprogrammed using the unlocked files. Any help would really appreciated....

That's interesting and theres a possibility I have a faulty programmer. The post write verify always passed without any issues, I've even done a read after write, and the comparison were identical as well. I will continue to seek for a solution and may need a new software program. Thank you again for all your help.Leave a comment:

Per your request, I am again attaching the BIOS for the 1040 G1 after multiple unsuccessful unsoldering and reprogramming using the HP Unlocker and RCUnlocker, as well using a BIOS downloaded from HP and modified lower portion of the bin file. I am not quite sure what's the issue now, but I am getting flashing white/orange LED by the power connector. I am hoping I didn't damage any of the traces. I will try and reprogram the original image and see if that helps.

Please see system information you have requested from the BIOS before any pathing attempts, I didn't find a white sticker as indicated by other members.

Sorry I've missed your post earlier.
After burning your new code I am also getting the (5) flashing cap lock and Scroll(num lk) keys followed by the high speed CPU fan, and screen is blank as well. Please let me know what else I can try. Really really appreciated for all your help....Leave a comment:

Thank you for your help and sorry to be a pain in the butt.
Unfortunately with this version, I am also getting the (5) flashing of the caps lock and Scroll(num lk) keys, then fan runs at full speed after about 20 seconds. I power cycled multiple times without any changes.
No issues with the soldering, and the codes matched to yours after the write as well.

With the latest patch, I get a different result, the Power and Cap LEDs are lit, but the screen is blank, and fan does not turn on. I also did a file comparison after write/read of the new file on the BIOS chip.
I don't use clip on the EZP2019 program, only soldering.
I am pretty sure it's not a soldering issue or programing issue since the laptop works fine when I restored the original code back onto the BIOS chip. Again, really appreciate for all your time...Leave a comment:

I have just tried your latest patch but I still get the blank screen display, (5) flashing scroll & cap lock, also high fan speed. Please let me know if I need to make additional tweak to make this work. I also make a mistake previously as this is a 1040 G1 and not G2 according to the system info. Hi Peste, I flashed the "unlocked" BIOS file for the 16MB chip following the instruction on page #1, but I am getting the 5 flashes of the Cap and Scroll keys. I did this on a new BIOS chip as well as the original BIOS chip. Fortunately, I was able to boot up normally after flashing the original locked file back to the original BIOS chip.
