Finally tried this on my T440p, and it worked like a charm. Used a SOIC8 clip w/ a Raspberry Pi. Only issue now is to remove the logo the previous owner put at the boot screen, I should be safe to update the BIOS as well right?

T440p Supervisor Password Removal

Recently got a T440p which unfortunately has the supervisor password enabled. This wasn't a big deal until I realize that Computrace is also enabled. I was wondering if I could purchase one of [URL="https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Socket-Adpter-Programmer-CH341A/dp/B07R5LPTYM/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=ch341a&qid=1627231043&sr=8-5"]these[/URL] and do the removal myself. I was looking through the automated tool, but was recommended to unsolder the chip instead. Is it required or is there a way I could remove the password...

So I’m SOL on removing the supervisor password unless I unsolder the chip? I was under the impression that I could just use it to do a BIOS dump and then flash the patched one all through the clip. Do all methods of removal require some sort of unsoldering?...

I have a T440p with a supervisor PW. I've never done any sort of BIOS modding before, I'm planning on getting one of [URL="https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Socket-Adpter-Programmer-CH341A/dp/B07R5LPTYM/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=ch341a&qid=1627231043&sr=8-5"]these[/URL] off Amazon.
