Sony MHC 6600 volume clicking
Has anybody had the problem of the digital clicking from the volume control coming through the speakers. I guess the mute should activate as everything seems to have a mute from the analogue switch LC7822 to prevent output of stuff on the speakers but the mute circuits are really complex. The pcb is very badly manufactured as if it is over etched and not cleaned properly before being screen printed because I have fixed one fault but a wide track lifted off real easy with very little heat requiring extra repair. I dread touching the board so would like to go straight to the problem if someone has...

Re: Repair Denon AVR-X2600h power amp SBL and SBR channel
You wouldn't need to remove all those components to find a fault unless it took a lightning strike so maybe someone couldn't fix the fault and removed the useful components to fix other units. Check the signal gets to the inputs that drive the missing parts before worrying about them....

Re: Denon 3313CI Distorted Audio FL+FR
Noise on the amp input will be amplified like any signal and probably make the outputs work hard hence heat. The amp must be working if the analogue signal gives good output. You need to find where the amp is switched between digital and analogue sources and follow the digital path backwards. When things warm up dodgy solder joints can connect and start working....

[Solved Twice] Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
I am not gong to waste time trying to fix the original Hitachi 17MB100 board for the TV because I have two working solutions that are good enough.
Solutions
1) 17MB120 23345028 FOR HITACHI 48HK6T74U TV SCREEN: VES480QNDS-2D-N11 with the flip screen software back on post #32 works with the original remote control but the board connectors require the plastic back to be cut for the different connectors.
2) MB 17MB100 23330575 FOR DIGIHOME 48300UHDLEDCNTD TV SCR: VES480QNES-2D-U01 (1)...

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
Code is in ball grid array Flash chip that is why I want to know if point '1' above would work or brick the board.
Without any advice I shall go route '2' above and have a Toshiba in an Hitachi box without cutting up the back panel and use a universal remote control....

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
I found a main board identical to the Hitachi 17MB100 very cheap for £5. On EBay here they advertise my remote RC5118 as Digi home & Hitachi.

Vestel MB & screen type
Do the screen numbers have any relevance to the Main boards? For instance is there any hardware differences between one MB with TV SCR: VES480QNES-2D-U01 and the same MB with TV SCR: VES480QNDS-2D-N11 advert listing?

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
I could and short all the other pins together. TP167 & TP169 are on the UART lines but the board isn't labelled. However there are two test points that connect to the correct pins on the cable SCART socket so it is a reasonable assumption that the UART lines come out as described in the manual. The boards over MB100 seem to only have two methods of software update FTP & USB but both methods require a working TV screen where I only have a flashing LED. Maybe the code doesn't get far enough to log...

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
I tried putting the screen flip file on root but it wasn't used by the TV so I put it in a directory called PQ like you said and it worked. Thanks a lot for the help and information from everybody I now have a working TV with the screen up the right way but the case needs hacking to clear the onboard SCART, the shifted aerial, Ethernet and SPDIF.
Now I query the USB stick I was sent by Hitachi for the original board and whether it was created correctly for the job? All the files are in root as per the picture...

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
Quote from Hitachi 55HK6T64U
55293DLB MB100 SERVICE MANUAL
"Try to update TV with latest SW. Additionally it is good to check SW printouts via Teraterm. These printouts may give a clue about the problem. You can use mini scart for terraterm connection. "
Mini SCART Pins 9 & 12 on the schematic are labelled UART_RX_SC & UART_TX_SC but there is no description of what happens in the adapter cable to convert the mini to standard SCART socket...

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
I didn't know that & when the supplied USB didn't work, after my prompting, Argos did give me the option of writing to customer services that would have been a long process but I was dealing with the incompetent doctors trying to get mum out of hospital where they were doing nothing for her so didn't follow it up.Making money and morality are at odds these days.
This board works the TV full screen but the picture is upside down.

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
I nearly had frost bite when fitting the frozen board but it didn't make any difference.
There is 5V on the main on the LED connector so it must be an option to derive it from either 3.3V or 12V.
I am setting up a terminal to read the Tx output on the mini SCART today when I figure out which pin it is in the normal SCART socket on the end of the adapter lead....

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
Not so easy to do I don't have a freezer spray. Would it work putting the board in the freezer & dropping it to zero C?
I am still hoping to fix the original board. I think the PSU is working & saw a cheap board for £13 that will verify the PSU state & give me a whole TV board that can drive an older TV via SCART or HDMI that can't tune the latest incarnation of digital channels with the addition of a PC supply. The final solution might be a £40 board if the problem is hardware but I want to investigate...

Re: DVDR24HD160F Dead no standby LED
I checked all the discrete components like diodes and transistors on the scart board and they seem to have sensible diode junction readings. Any suggestions for testing what else might be duff?

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
Could I get an Hitachi 17MB100 main board for 48" or 43" and use my USB stick to upgrade it to 55"? The only difference in the screen type is the VES480QNDS-2D-N11 to VES550QNDS-2D-N11. Another query is I read the USB stick needs to be ext3 format not fat32 or others.
I tried to check out the power supplies and found there was no 5V STBY on the main board but following it back to the PSU board there are no components fitted. Should there be 5V on the main board perhaps derived from another rail or...

Re: Hitachi 55" TV dead after 18 months (Vestel 17MB100)
Are you saying the hardware could be different or it is software that can be changed? I bought mum a 65" Toshiba replacement because TV is her life at 96 years old so have a remote type CT8533.
I can't see any boards like mine only ones that appear to have the same components with a different reference....
