TCL 40S6500A - stuck in boot process
Hi everyone, i have a TCL 40" that's stuck in the boot process,here's what happens, at first turn on you get the TCL logo after that it goes to the 4 rotating color circles, it does not go beyond this point, the color circles just keep going on, from what i've read and seen on YT apparently it's a firmware/software issue, i'm willing to try a software update via the usb method but have no luck finding a suitable site to download the correct software for my model TCL, i have tried the TCL site with no luck, so the real question is can anyone HELP point me to a reliable source i can download...

You'll have to look up the datasheet of whichever transistors/mosfets you come across in your spare parts, but going on the datasheet of the original no MMT70R380P it's basically a 700 - 750V 11amp N - CH Mosfet, so whichever other mosfet you look up has to match those specs of the original no, also pay attention to the pin configuration with respect to GDS....

Not to insult anyone's intelligence but once saw an LG do a similar thing, unplugged it from the electrical outlet and let it sit for half hour, plugged it back in and to my surprise i had perfect picture...go figure.

The black patch may have been caused by possible damage to the panel itself, most likely a minor crack somewhere along the edges of the panel on that side of the tv or the COF over heating and literally burning the panel, either way, my guess is the panel has finally deteriorated to a point of no return....

Thanks for finding this link for me, yeah the search results have lost it's effectiveness, hard to find stuff.
Thank you so much nomoresonys, you're a true BC legend...

I think i will somehow put a small 12vdc fan over the cpu, will also try my reflow torch as well, maybe heat it up in hopes of it somehow making a better connection, and see how that goes.
Thanks again for all the tips and advice....

I have been running a blu-ray player on hdmi 1 maybe i can try another cable on a different hdmi input, tv antenna idea is good to try as well.

I feel i'm up to trying this, the cpu heatsink gets extremely hot in no time, you could fry an egg on that thing....

Thank you, i guess it's sometimes a bit of a guessing game with these AIO models....

Even though the picture is perfect when the TV works, that's a bummer if it really is the panel, i tried searching for the model on here but it gives me 0.00 results?? Thanks for your suggestion....

hey guys i decided to take the TV apart and have a look at the lights, turns out it is the problem as suspected, as you will see in the pictures, one of them ( the middle light ) is literally busted, so that's it for me, it's the garbage for this tv, thanks to this thread and everyone for your help.....Last edited by TVAddict; 01-18-2024, 06:58 PM.

with all connectors off readings on CN802 are :
pins 1 - 7 = 13v
11,13 = 5.2v
14 = 3.3v
12 = 5.2v
2+6 = 0v
Tried the light test in post#4 - the light flashed for a second and turned off
Tried leaving the OPV pin disconnected = same problem
tested the 474j cap it read 460, i figure that's still workable..?...Last edited by TVAddict; 01-18-2024, 08:45 AM.

i did measure voltages at CN802 but with ALL connectors hooked up and TV on - pins 1 - 7 = 12.6v pin 11 and 13 = 5.6v pin2 = 0.76v pin12 = 5.2v pin14 = 3.5v pin6 = 5.1v - but all voltages were steady, tv remains on with sound just the light cuts off after a few seconds of the tv turning on. Also voltage at the main cap is steady at 394v
But i'll try what you suggested and see what readings i get......Last edited by TVAddict; 01-18-2024, 08:34 AM.

Forgot to ask, if it is some light issue as this thread is mostly suggesting, is there a way one could force the lights to stay on?

I have the same exact TV with the same exact problem.
My readings on connector CN1801 are as follows - LD - 0volts / Vcc - 12.6v / CNT_PRT - 8.4v / OVP - 1.8v
Readings Taken with TV on.
Readings Taken with TV on.
The other pins with Low (fet) and high (fet) i'm not sure how to measure those?
at turn on High reads about upwards of 140v AC then dies off to around 19v AC
Low starts at 19v AC goes up to just 20v AC and drops back to 19v AC - i get no readings using the DC scale.
i tried another inverter...Last edited by TVAddict; 01-17-2024, 06:31 PM.
