So I've replaced the charger IC, but it's still not charging....

Re: DELL LA-B441P not charging
Something weird is going on.
Resistance of REGN is approx 200kOhm, but voltage went to zero (pr204 is still removed)
Also, on charger IC
27 pin now has 19.1v
26 pin now has 18.9v
25 pin has 18.7v
I'm about to replace charger IC

Re: DELL LA-B441P not charging
I can confirm that without PR204 there is still 19.56 on ACDRV
Also after removing PR204 voltage of CMSRC raised from 17.7 to 19.5
I've measured two dc-in mosftes PQ203 & PQ205 but got kOhms/mOhms everywhere. the lowest resistance was ~100kOhm which seems fine to me.
11 and 12 pins still 0 volts.

Re: DELL LA-B441P not charging
Well I've removed PR204 and nothing changed, 19.56v. Same zero on 11 & 12 pins

I was about to do it, but was not able to locate PR204 so far, still looking

DELL LA-B441P not charging
Hi, could someone please advise, the laptop shows that it is charging, but actually it's not. It is still working from the battery, but won't work from the AC.
Here are some measurements from the PU200 charging controller:

2 ACP 19.05v 190k
3 CMSRC 17.76v 43k
4 ACDRV 19.95v 40k
5 ACOK 3.1v 140k
6. ACDET 3.1v 6k
7. IADP 0.23v 122k
8 IDCHG 0.36v 184k
9 PMON 0.05v 20k
10 /PROCHOT 0.001v 293ohm

Re: Lenovo Legion Y520, not charging.
Issue resolved by replacing both PQ201 and PQ202. PQ201 was also damaged.
Big thanks for your help

Re: Lenovo Legion Y520, not charging.
Does 445 Ohm between source and gate means its shorted?

Re: Lenovo Legion Y520, not charging.
I can confirm that battery is charging after I removed pr206 resistor from ACDRV line. But should I just leave it as it is? I assume something is still not good since I needed to remove this resistor?

Re: Lenovo Legion Y520, not charging.
Can confirm ACDRV is now 25.56, laptop appears to be charging. So I should dig closer to PQ201 & PQ202 mosfets?

Lenovo Legion Y520, not charging.
Hi everyone, appreciate any advice on following:
A laptop Lenovo Legion y520 came to me, not charging, AC led dark.
I've changed two capacitors in the AC line which were shorted, and now it's working from AC and says that battery is charging, however battery % is not growing (been waiting a few hours).
I'm not sure why, could anyone please advice what can I check?
on JBATT1 connector:
EC_SMB_DA1 = 3.2v
EC_SMB_CK1 = 3.2v
BATT+ signal only appears when battery is connected, and it's 10.47v which I assume is just coming from battery. Shouldn't...Last edited by Crabolog; 04-17-2023, 07:55 AM.

ACDET pin 6 of PU8 = 2.75vLast edited by Crabolog; 03-21-2023, 12:18 PM.

Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1
I assume pr80 is the pull up resistor here. It has 6v on one pin, and 0.005v on another pin that goes to ACIN on PU8.
I've replaced it and pr79 with new 100k resistors, but no change.
Resistance of pr80 to gnd is 85k, same for pr79
PIN5 ACIN on pu8 has 80k to gnd
Also I have 19.7v on pin1 of PR175 that I've removed, I assume that is not right.Last edited by Crabolog; 03-21-2023, 11:30 AM.

Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1
Same voltage and resistance on PU16 21 pin ACIN = 0.005v
PU8:
ACDET 2.75v
ACN = 19.7V
ACP = 19.7V
VCC = 19.7
CMSRC = 19.7V
ACDRV = 25V
PHASE = 2.8V
SDA =3.3V
SLC = 3.3V
ILIM =3.3V
SRP =2.8V
SRN = 2.8V
HIDRV = 2.8V
LODRV = 0V
BTST = 6V
REGN6v = 5.99V
ACPRES (ACIN) = 0.005V
DC JACK ADID = 0.6v
I'm not sure why acin is missing, will check pr80 and pr79Last edited by Crabolog; 03-21-2023, 10:37 AM.

Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1
What should I check if I remove pr175? I still have 0.005v on PU8 pin5. Resistance to gnd is 75kOhmsLast edited by Crabolog; 03-21-2023, 07:19 AM.

Re: HP Pavilion Laptop Motherboard Not Starting Up DA0R53MB6E1
PU8
pin 20 = 19.7v, infinite
pin 16 = 6v, 65kOhm
pin 4 = 25.5v, infinite
PU12 acin = 65kOhm
pu8 acpresent = 77kOhm
acdet 70 kOhm
pu7
phase2 = 9kOhm
lgate2 90kOhm
phase1 20kOhm and rising
lgate1 90kOhm
entrip1 80 kOhm
entrip2 90kOhm
pgood 15kOhm and rising
I'm not sure about power sequence here,what am I missing on pu7 to get powergood ?Last edited by Crabolog; 03-21-2023, 05:46 AM.
