Hi A1, sounds like a motherboard issue to be honest, Have you tried a USB keyboard ! also try cleaning the keyboard connector on the motherboard with a soft toothbrush and IPA alchhol atleast 90% IPA. Also if able remove the motherboard from the chassis and try again outside the chassis with everything disconnected except power cord and the small daughterboard that holds the power on microswitch. Try see if it will work as intended in bios, this would help diagnose if its hardware or software related.....Paul...

Thanks SMDFlea
im glad i checked, appreciate your help as always. Hopefully someone can help with the bios, unless you are able to advise which offsets need changed in my bios bin file, I am able to edit the file in HXD just not sure as to which 4 bits to change back to 00 as when comparing the untouched file from the first one from a few days ago the offsets dont match up with the untouched file from the second laptop identical model. the only difference i am aware of is i saw windows update perform a bios update when seting it up.
any advice appreciated, always looking to...

Hi fauzanmint, i am comparing your supplied bin file with the original ir read from the chip for future reference im looking at them in HXD to pinpoint the 4 bits that needed changed as per a previous post, however the supplied file has many differences. forgive my lack of knowledge i just dont want to write this back and solder to the motherboard only to have to remove it again, can i ask .....is it a different bios file thats be uploaded ?....thanks....Paul...

Thanks SMDflea..... just passing on my experience of the process for others. I read up on the method on this thread and learned about the 4 bits that need set to put the laptop back into factory mode. I've tried to use this method for the 2nd same model laptop form same customer, but ive noticed the bin file is not the same, possibly due to windows updating the bios before i removed the chip. I'm not sure, but ive made a new post today....

Got another one from same customer
Dell Lattitude 7410
SN:2020AP2584
SERVICE TAG:2X5H2J3
BOARD:BOARD~FDX40 LA-J261P REV A00
Just wanted to ask,,,, i compared the unedited bios from the fisrt 7410 from couple days ago to the one im working on today and at the first hex offset the data is different so i am unsure if this would affect the outcome to corrupt the bios if i changed the four bits of data to put it into factory mode
I think windows may have updated the bios on this one and thats why its different ?
anyway i have uploaded the...

Thanks guys, worked perfect, not sure if it was my mistake but when it powered up for the first time it went to factory mode, and in the bios it requested me to re enter the service tag and asset tag details. Apart from that it works fine,,,thanks again

Hi
Yes i did that also, it only shows the unlocked message at boot, it does not show that any details are missing like serial number etc... so i assume they are all fine, look fine in the HXD view from the dump.
I will keep looking for the MPM tool for now, as its not causing any issue with the laptop booting etc...
Thanks for all the advice
Paul

Just going round in circles trying to download the tool to edit the values as done in the youtube video. But the download links just spam out with more pages every time i click to download the tool in the guys video.
Done a search for the MPM tool which didnt come up with any results either, do you know if this tool is available

Thanks Peste, Ive had a look at that today, but cant figure out what im supposed to be changing or configuring. I am able to dump the bios and modify in HXD then re program it back, is there anything i can change using that method that will get it out of this programming mode.
It still boots past the message after is displays, so it's not a big issue, but would like to learn how to deal with this new issue
Thanks for your time
Paul

Hi Guys
This one seems to have developed an issue, it was working fine as far as i know but today its booting with message telling me manufacturing programming mode is in unlock mode. Not seen this before, is it just a bios setting needing adjusted
Thanks
