P8H61 Plus died - any suggestions?
Hello, I just got this motherboard used.
It worked fine for the first few boots, got to BIOS etc. However, first time first time I tried to boot it to OS - Linux live CD in this case - I got to the desktop, but the mouse or keyboard was not functioning.
The system was not frozen though, the clock did run. But pressing any button on the keyboard only made the num lock light flash, and nothing else.
So, I figure it's a compatibility issue or something, and I shut the system down with the power button.
And that's it. The motherboard is now completely dead.

Replacement fan cables
So, basically I have some fans that have been used in other projects and have their 3pin connectors ripped out.
Now me being a cheapskate and not wanting to throw them away because "they could be useful".
I started looking ebay if I could find new 3pin cables / wires for them but could not really find what I was looking for, the wires were either very short or just expensive.
This was the best I could find: https://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-PC-Fan-Power-Cable-60CM-24-3-Pin-Female-to-3-pin-Male-Extension-Wire/281523816728

Re: Chinese low ESR electrolytic capacitors that are decent?
I have used Lelon (the ones with black and orange sleeve), I found out that those were the original caps used on my router, that has been turned on 24/7 since approx 2007 - 2008 and still going strong.
I was able to source the same caps from Ebay and I recapped my monitor with them three years ago, to test the longetivity of them and it's been in daily use ever since.
I've also had success with Taicon and SamWha capacitors. Now I have seen quite a few failed SamWhas on Samsung TV's but they all were about 5...

Postage scale repair.
The main problem is that the plate is very crooked and I cannot understand why.
It also displays an error when powered up:
Initial zero point over ±10% (take 10% as the benchmark)
Check and remove any objectfrom weighing pan or malfunction of LOAD CELL
I believe this is caused by the crooked plate.
Some pictures from the insides as attachments.
Picture 4: Is that screw supposed to be there? I think that has something to do with the problem. The mechanism is bolted in at the other end.
I would be glad to receive any ideas....Last edited by Jooo; 01-22-2016, 03:05 PM.

Re: The Hall of Shame - Badcaps Photo Montage
Mainboard of a Philips Blu-ray player, several bulging Chang capacitors, including some ventless ones. This was one of their higher end players....

Re: Real or fake?
Those are probably genuine. The Rubycons are almost 10 years old though.

Re: Help identifying these old caps
They are not fake, but really really old. I see a 82 datecode on the Nichicon - that makes it 33 years old. On the capacitor marked nasa the datecode is 95 - so that is 20 years old.
Personally, I would not use them....

Thomson 32LM051B6 flickering vertical lines/dots.
Hi,
Any ideas what's wrong with this Thomson TV? On menus the picture is fine, but when there is signal applied to any ports the picture is full of flickering/flashing dots.
AOC L32W551T is probably the same TV. PSU is full of Chemicons....Last edited by Jooo; 09-16-2015, 11:12 AM.

Re: What Do You Think Are The Worst Capacitors ?
In my opinion none of those are bad compared to the bottom of the barrel chinese caps - Jwco, Rukycon etc. My general rule is that if the manufacturer uses the bullseye bung as standard - its probably crap.Last edited by Jooo; 06-27-2015, 11:13 AM.

Re: Right capacitors for old P3 mobo
Those are Panasonic FF series. If the case size is 10 x 20, the impedance is 0.023 and ripple current 1820 mA with 2000 hours lifetime.

Re: Any more info on counterfeit Nichicons?
Just something that caught my eye...
The end of the sleeving is not perfectly round on any of these caps. They were in sealed factory bag, and were from authorised distributor so I have no reason to believe that they are fakes... They are all exactly like that, so I guess they had some problems with their machines that week....

These are excellent side cutters for trimming component leads and cutting small wires. Sharp and comfortable. I have had this pair for about an year and they are still like new. They won't last if you use them for cutting thick wires, I learned that after destroying my previous pair of these cutters. But for basic light-duty electronics work they are better than some name-brand cutters that I have used.Re: Cheap Ebay Stuff: the Good, the

Wurth capacitors
I noticed that these have become available pretty much from everywhere.
Anyone here bought some? Any experiences? I wonder if they are rebadged?
They seem a little cheaper than Japanese caps. They have some Low ESR series as well as polymers too.
