    Hey @ Akintunde,
I have the same exact issue, when I connect good working SSD drive from my t470 the t480 turns on but black display and no boot , when SSD is removed ( not cable just SSD ) the system boots fine to bios .
    Did you find any solution?

Update : got a working bios all clean , boots up not locked but when I take the SSD with caddy from my working t470 and installed it in my t480 it won't boot , power on to black screen.
When SSD cable is connected it boots fine without SSD , it's ONLY when SSD is connected that it won't boot now .
The SSD is working with windows, tested several times.
Any ideas what it could be ?

I saw in a few places that flashing a fresh bios with clean ME would help, i do have a EZP2019 programer that I used for flashing apple MacBook BIOS chips but I understand that the T480 has 2 chips, would I need to flash both of them?

I saw somewhere that I can download the bios from Lenovo:

And then flash with chip with this bios ?
Which chip do I need to...

Lenovo T480 no boot , only melody .

    Hello,
    Purchased a T480 Lenovo from eBay .
The laptop won't boot just play melody and keyboard light come on and then the laptop turns off.
Disconnected everything, HDD, LCD connector, and the other long connection on the top , removed bios battery, tested we good working ram from my T470.
Same result, no signs of water damage, won't display anything on HDMI .
Used the Lenovo app the code comes up is : 0285
TCG-compliant functionality-related error (might be the TPM initialization failure)
When I try to scan the serial number it makes beeps but the app...

Thank you guys for your help, is there a weather fall flow I can follow to check voltage across rails and report back to you ?
Can it still be a bad ME that needs cleaning that is putting this board in this state and pulling the voltage down?

    Hey all,
I have a 820-3115-b that was worked on, I have no history for it .

Found a lot of flux by the keyboard ic and EFI chip was definitely removed and resoldered.
It powers on , fan spin , green light, won't beep without ram .
Did SMC reset, did pram ,no visible water damage.
Removed EFI chip , made a backup and worth chip with good working bios of same exact model board.
Got a file with clean ME from some other thread here at badcaps but still same result.
Any ideas where I can start diagnosing this issue?
    Thanks

Ahhh here we go .... Some knowledge transfer .
This is valuable information, now I really thank you for your input.
What's your take on Jtag connectors are they more stable?
What is a good cost effective programer for someone like me that uses it maybe every 6 months?

It's a shame you that you choose to interact with members in this manner.
Kindness and being polite is free , you can convey your message in many different ways .
I have a hot air station but I was trying to avoid taking the laptops apart and you would have known that if you read my post.
I'm almost never need to unlock SPI chips or flash bios so I don't want to spend money on a programer I will rarely use.
If you have any actual input that would be nice , if not.........

I am using a clip , should I try to cut the wires in the middle of the clip and inject 3v like that ?

  • Re: MacBook EMC 2554 2012 EFI password.

    2nd update:
After os install and firmware update gpu is back to 1.5gb and laptop is working good .
1 out of 4 of the laptops I'm not able to read and seems like the reason is with my programmer using the clip I can't get the suspend voltage to power the chip .
    Any suggestions?
I would rather not inject voltage and not remove the chip.
Otherwise the laptop turns on fine , no issues just EFI locked .
I did try thet trick or connecting the pin 4 to ground inside my EZP2019 but didn't work, and I used the...
