Re: Help finding replacement buck ic for Sony XBR-65X930D
Not sure honestly. Sony was replacing units for the ic failing so was wondering if they did a design revision or not. Should I put a dab of thermal compound on it as a precaution?...

Macbook Pro M1 A2338 - No Power 5v 100ma
No liquid damage. Board looks new and clean.
I'm not very familiar with Macs but I am proficient with iPhone logic boards.
Macs diagnostics seem to be a different animal. Any advice how to start?
Is there a voltage power on sequence I need to investigate?
Do schematics list this or something you just learn? Thanks

Help finding replacement buck ic for Sony XBR-65X930D
I know there was a recall for these TVs due to this ic failing so wanted to make sure I got a replacment that was revised? Unless Sony revised the entire board? In any way would like to just purchase the ic from a USA seller if someone could point me in right direction. Thanks in advance...

LG-V410 Schematic and Boardview request
Anyone have any of those for this model tablet?

LG-V410 Tablet - No Power - Need to recover data
This device was dropped and now when press power button amp draw is 110ma and soon as release power button drops to 0.
Any schematics or boardview for this model? Or suggestions on what to try?

Anyway to increase the temperature of this preheater?
It's a preheater for iPhone models X-11 that use low melt 138c solder between the sandwiched layers. Has a constant temp setting of 180-190c
I want to use it for newer iPhone 12 models which use a higher solder between the layers I believe 168c.
Anyway to increase the temp of the preheater to 230c?...

Surface Laptop 2 1769 - No Power - Need Data
Hi everyone have this 1769 doesn't power on. When power button pressed following happens:
- Backlight no display for 5 seconds
- Quick black screen
- Backlight no display for 5 seconds
Repeats about 4-5 times
No water damage or anything visibly burnt/broken
Primarily need data off it but noticed it's a soldered on flash memory.
Any help in getting this to boot would be appreciated.
Also I am familiar with microsoldering / hot air work if last resort need to swap the logic board, would I just need...Last edited by caphair; 04-07-2022, 10:00 AM.

Re: Oven DSI igniter cleaning?
Do you mean clean the white porcelain part as well?...

Re: Oven DSI igniter cleaning?
Is the gap size crucial at all like a spark plug? Or just bend it slightly and should be good to go?
Another thing does the rod have to be perfectly straight? Mine has a minimal bend to it. Looks a bit wavy but not too noticeable...

Oven DSI igniter cleaning?
My oven has been randomly turning on when selecting bake. Broil works fine as well as the stove top heaters.
Checked and noticed the ignitor doesn't ignite. Read that sometimes cleaning the tip can help. Which I did but now it ignites inconsistently
My question, should you only clean the very tip or entire rod? I'm guessing this works similar to a spark plug as the cage has a little “pointer” that acts as a ground for the spark to travel back to?
Would bending that little ground tab closer to the rod help with spark if it's still acting up and...

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
At least that's what my capacitor tester said. Yeah original is 2200pf
Would the smaller cap cause the light to go out and cause secondary issues?...

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
Turns out it was the green cap across the lamp terminals. Didn’t have exact one so momentarily substituted with a 483pf one. Lamp lit then went off and puff of smoke came from the circuit board lol. Guess using the wrong cap for testing wasn’t a good idea? Lol

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
So at the output of the tea sudores it would be ac voltage again? Just seeing what I could measure before that point to help see if the transistors are doing anything.
Curious how does higher frequency but not higher voltage help with turning the lamp on?...

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
Yes it bridges one of the two filament pins. I tried without the cap but still nothing.
Im confused on how you would test this circuit if the output voltage is high frequency. Is an oscilloscope required?
And is my understanding correct that mains ac is converted to dc and then back to higher ac voltage to get the lamp running?...

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
Can I test if it'll light without that capacitor? Don't have another to replace...

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
The lamp tests good. The capacitor not sure if it's good or bad but could only measure in ohms and gives a reading of 1.2 ohms across it when disconnected from the lamp
I may have previously measured voltages incorrectly. Those reading were DC when I try measuring AC it only reads 1.2vac at the wires going to the lamp...

Re: Fluorescent desk lamp repair
@redwire Yes that’s the one you’ve linked. There are 4 wires that connect to the lamp itself further up and two of them have a capacitor across them.
What’s a good way to test if the circuit is functioning properly? Can I just ohm check the lamp to determine if it’s not open inside?
Do you know what voltage I should expect at both transistor pins?
