  • Kenwood Chef KVC50 / KVL60 / KVC5000 / KVL6000 / KVL6030 / KVL6050 kitchen machine repair

    Hello,

I am attempting to repair a KVC50 kitchen machine. Problem is that speeds 1..5 on the speed dial do not work at all (motor is not engaged). The 'reverse' and 'slow' settings on the same dial however work properly. I removed the dial, its PCB components seems to be basic: a potentiometer, a microswitch, a couple of LEDs and a couple of SMD diodes or transistors. The dial has three cables with three connectors that hook up to the motor controller PCB. One connector (3 pins) for speed, one connector (5 pins) for the LEDs, and one connector (2 pins) for a safety switch that is...

  • JVC VHS : what is the mechanical function of the 'slider cam' ?

    Dear reader,

I am (trying to) repair a JVC HR-D530E VHS recorder. The problem was that the tape is not ejected. Pressing 'eject' results in some whirring of the mechanism, after which the machine shuts itself down. I discovered that if I fiddle with a mechanical part on the bottom (the so-called 'slider cam'), that the problem temporarily goes away. In the attached photo, it concerns that part within the red 'ellips'.

I noted that the 'slider cam' actually consists of two pieces that can slide a bit over each other (denoted with '1' and '2' in the photo). When sliding...

  • Looking for a JVC VHS service manual - type HR-D530

    Hi,

Someone asked me to revive an old VCR. I found service manuals for related types online, but not for the HR-D530. The mechanism of 'my' machine differs somewhat from e.g. the HR-D540.

If someone has a link or suggestion.. then I would highly value that.

    Thank you, Roland....

  • How do I remove a plastic split washer from a VHS VCR ?

    Hi,

I am trying to repair a JVC HR-D530E VHS recorder, the cassette does not eject. I discovered that the rubber belt of the loading motor is slipping, so I'd like to replace it. I think I have to remove the (nylon?) washers at each end of the worm axel, labeled '2' in the photo. I tried using a small screwdriver and a pair of tweezers, but to no avail.

Is there perhaps a special tool or a trick required to remove these ?

    Thanks in advance, Roland.

  • Blu-Ray player Harman Kardon BDS 277 : SMPS IC blown

    Hi,

I just finished a repair of this player, the symptom was that it was completely 'dead'. I created this topic so it may benefit anyone else.

The root cause was that one of the SMPS ICs was blown up, which was only visible after a lid on a cooling body was removed (see attached picture).

The PCB type number is 40-K250HG-PWD1G.

    A service manual for the BDS 277 EU is available online (file name: BDS-275 & 277 & 575 & 577 Rev 1.pdf)

I replaced the TOP257EN with a type that can handle more current:...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi there... I am Roland from the Netherlands. I studied electronics 30 years ago, but ended up in a software/firmware career. Since I enjoy getting my hands dirty, I picked up repairing as a hobby, with varying success. I plan to use this forum to get tips from people who are more handy/knowledgable than me.
