Re: Cooker Hood Repair
So they are rapidly shorting it instead of driving it, must be a reason for this I suppose. I've never actually heard it make a sound, though. I don't know under what conditions it should.
Its all back together and working fine so I shall stop worrying about it.

Re: Cooker Hood Repair
I'm pretty sure I've drawn it correctly. I've attached the pictures of the board, one is reversed to match the other. The buzzer connections are marked in yellow....

Acer B66H6-AD Motherboard
Hi, I have an ACER Nitro 50 PC of sorts (it has a lower spec processor and graphics card). It has a B66H6-AD motherboard and, although it is working well, I am trying to learn more about how it works. I am, therefore, looking for a circuit diagram, boardview, manual or any other documentation that might help me understand more about this machine.
Thanks.

Cooker Hood Repair
Hi.
I've been repairing a cooker hood for my daughter and, although I have got it working, I am puzzled by a couple of things.
I have attached the circuit diagram I made from studying the PCB. It is a bit rudimentary but it served its purpose.
There is a buzzer, driven by output P0.0 of the processor, and the circuit seems to be a bit strange. The buzzer seems to be continually powered by 12 volts but is short circuited by the driver transistor. Any idea why this should be? I have checked the PCB several times and this is definitely how it is wired.
The second thing...

Re: Acer Nitro 50 Motherboard
Thank you both, that has put my mind at rest. I might still fit one if I can find one. I have found heatsinks for North/Southbridge chips but they are too big. There must be something to fit the holes but I cant find it. Maybe I'll just get a sticky one.

Acer Nitro 50 Motherboard
Hi. I have bought a computer from ebay. It is in an Acer Nitro 50 case but was described as NOT being an Acer Nitro. I can find no manufacturer name on the motherboard but it is marked B66H6-AD which makes me believe it is the Acer motherboard that came with the case. It has an Intel Core i3-12100F processor, 16Gb of RAM and an AMD RX560 graphics card.
My question is regarding the chip shown circled in the attached picture. I believe this might be the PCH but should it have a heatsink on it? If so, what kind and where can I get one?
I have seen the PC working but I am reluctant to...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, I'm Chris and I heard about this forum on the Learn Electronics Repair YouTube channel.
I have limited modern computer knowledge and my activities are more of a general electronics nature. My interest in electronics started at school and grew considerably when I joined BT (known in 1968 as the GPO). In the early '80s I trained in TXE4 maintenance which was an early model of electronic telephone exchange. I moved from there into a management role until I retired in 2011.
I have kept up a practical involvement...
