Re: Dim Clock LCD on Jenn-Air wall oven
You could test this theory by dumping the EEPROM on your new board and replacing/flashing the EEPROM on your old board....

Re: Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) Starion 919 Restoration
Have you ever tried replacing the battery on a Dallas RTC? It can be done with some skillful Dremel & knife work: https://ardent-tool.com/misc/Dallas_Rework.htmlRe: Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) Sta...ork.html

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
It might work. However the long term solution is to figure out how to fit a 120v led bulb into the space. I used one like this:
https://www.menards.com/main/electrical/light-bulbs/led-light-bulbs/feit-electric-25w-equivalent-t4-warm-white-dimmable-led-light-bulb/bp25g9-830-led/p-3149259783587765-c-7482.htm
The lower fridge light and freezer light are in series so they only get half the voltage and are thus fairly dim. But it does not bother me in the least especially since I didn't have to...

Re: onn. (Element/Walmart) 32" LED add missing PC audio jack?
Yes sir, I did try it while displaying a picture on the vga input. I can adjust the volume, toggle the mute, etc while on this input which makes me believe that it wants to work. So I was hoping for some comments about how my circuit was wrong. If not I suppose that it is still possible that this audio input is disabled by the firmware on some other level....

Re: onn. (Element/Walmart) 32" LED add missing PC audio jack?
So here is what I tried (be sure to zoom in to see the annotations):
I did the same wiring for both channels but only one channel is fully visible in the photo. I removed CD61 (the top of it and the pad to the left were grounded). I added a bridge to the pad to the left of the removed capacitor. Now I had continuity all the way to the SOC. I noted that both channels had a 30k resistor and capacitor pull down to ground on each trace leading to the SOC. I left those alone. I added a 10k resistor...Last edited by bluto; 01-15-2020, 12:45 AM.

Re: onn. (Element/Walmart) 32" LED add missing PC audio jack?
I dug into this a little more and I think the main SOC is a TSUMV59XUS. It is amazing that all of the inputs (HDMI, analog audio & video, USB, etc.) get fed directly into the chip where it does all the signal processing and outputs the LVDS signal directly to the panel. I found a service manual of another TV that uses the same chip and it showed all of the circuits for its inputs and outputs including the PC audio input. If it is to believed, then all I need to feed into the SOC's audio input pins is two resistors...Last edited by bluto; 01-14-2020, 07:58 PM.

onn. (Element/Walmart) 32" LED add missing PC audio jack?
I picked this up yesterday at Walmart, a 32" LED TV (model #100002458) for just under $100 to use in my shop. A few months ago, the older models used the 'Element' brand name but apparently now they go by 'onn'. Either way it looks like they are all made by Tsinghau TongFang (THTF) Global. The main board is MS35533-ZC01-01.
Unfortunately it looks like on this one they had to leave off the PC audio 3.5mm input jack to save a few cents per unit. The older models all had this included. I took the cover off and there is clearly an unused location to receive the 3.5mm...Last edited by bluto; 01-13-2020, 08:23 PM.

Re: Obscure power supply replacement suggestions
I have considered ITX. I actually purchased one of these to try: https://www.fspgroupusa.com/ecommerce/retail-products/flexguru-250w.html
But it required modifying the modifying the AC input which I would like to avoid. So I thought I would ask here.
As for repair, that would be nice but there some issues at play. While these are nice power supplies (they even have UCC KY series caps not the usual crap caps), they are covered in glue that is turning conductive and causing them to malfunction....

Obscure power supply replacement suggestions
I need recommendations for replacements for this power supply. It is a Seasonic SSF-160U1. It is 160 watt, open frame and has a 24 pin ATX & 4 pin +12v connector. It needs to fit inside of a 1U server chassis (WatchGuard Firebox firewall). The original is discontinued and I need a source of reliable new replacements. Cost is not really a factor, but ideally the replacements should be less than $150-200 each.
Any ideas?

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
Given that Whirlpool is the General Motors of the appliance world, what else do you buy then? Before this debacle I have always thought their stuff was decent and they have good parts availability. What else is there, Frigidaire/Electrolux? And don't say Samsung or LG, those appliance brands are special in their own way. Especially all of the pile of plastic front load washers that they put out that are absolute garbage....

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
Do you have a link to the rebuilt boards? I can only find one board that appears to be professionally refurbished for $97 which incidentally is only $2 less than the price of a new board. If it was $50, I would buy one to try and figure out what was replaced on it.

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
The output connector from the top light is wired in series to the lower light and the freezer light. So you have 2 options: 1. Eliminate one of the two and splice the two wires at the eliminated connector together so the other connector will get 120v. 2. Keep them in series and live with the lower light and freezer light running at 60v.
I went with option 2 and after a few days I was fine with the less brightness from the light in the freezer.

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
That's a good idea. You could eliminate the lower fridge light, clip its connector and splice those two wires together. Then you feed 120v on to the output connector at the upper fridge light and get 120v across the 2 wires in the freezer. 2 good lights is better than 3 flickering lights.

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
The lower fridge and freezer lights connect to the second connector. On those the modules the circuit board looks the same but it is only populated with the LEDs, all other components are omitted. The arrangement is that all the LEDs are in series. If you unplug the lower fridge light or the freezer light, all three will stop working.
See my diagram above for a visual representation.

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
The guy in that link did exactly what I was suggesting. Except he cut off all the connectors in order to just crimp connectors onto the ends of the wires. What he has done to the two down line lights is to feed them 120v instead of DC output of the top LED board. So the lights are all getting 120v (wired in parallel)
Edit: I studied the pictures in the blog post a little more and this may not work... The output plug on the top LED has red & yellow wires. The lower fridge light has what looks like...

Re: Whirlpool Refrigerator LED lights flickering
I was thinking about something along those lines. I think I would de-solder the 2 connectors from the LED board. Then I could solder a pigtail going to a light socket, LED strip, etc. to that connector and would be able to plug into the fridge's 120v connector. Then I might also do the same thing with the lower fridge light and the freezer light. The output connector on the upper light would also be fed with 120v in order to feed these other two lights. The only trouble would be if the LED strip can't handle the cold of the fridge/freezer....
