Re: LG 50UH500 LED Current Mod help needed
What fail wire are you speaking of? This mod will only work if all the backlights are functional.

Re: LG 50UH500 LED Current Mod help needed
Yes, in my experience the equivalent mod has to be done on the 65" version of this tvs or it will just burn out the new set of (replacement) Leds.
I remove R425,R424,R421, R419, R417, and R415 (or remove one out of the 3 parallel resistors per array). That brought the current down to a more long lasting level.

Re: Insignia 4k NS-50DR710NA17 troubleshooting
Especially for that particular model, BTW. The good news is that there are many other models that your LCD panel will fit. Mostly Sharp models, but some Toshiba's too. Should be a cracked screen 50" 4K Sharp or Toshiba for sale for cheap nearby... depending on the model number it's a direct replacement (move the Tcon with the screen just to sure...)

Re: LED problem on samsung UE55F6475, 2 strips work. The rest is flashing every secon
This: "The current and voltage are monitored by the power board if they go out of tolerance they shut down the output for that output on the leds."
I suspect your TV has LEDs that are aged out and drawing too much power. The upper channel tolerates slightly more power than the bottom one. That's why you can move your strips around and get the results you have. That's been my experience with that model anyways.

Re: Putting LCD panel from Vizio TV into another brand TV
I do the same as hadsworth above. Sometimes the tcons don't even need to be the same version at all, as long as they are made by the same company. Swap the Tconn with the panel of course. Strangely enough, swapping panels into LG tvs seems to be the hardest... LG mains seem to be very picky about which version of Tcons they'll work with.

Re: Samsung UE55ES7000
if you look at the bottom of your display, it looks like all off the screen starts to drop out/no display. I'd look for moisture damage on the driver boards between the screen and the tconn?

Re: how often are bad capacitors responsible for LED monitor failures?
I think this is from Badcaps.net:
What is the legend behind the badcaps? Well, the rather dubious story behind this problem is that a scientist working for the Japanese company Rubycon left the company and began working for Luminous Town Electric in China. He developed a copy of the Rubycon P-50 water based electrolyte which is what they use in the Low-ESR caps that are present on all motherboards. Unfortunately his staff left and stole his electrolyte formula. They started producing tons...

Re: how often are bad capacitors responsible for LED monitor failures?
In my experience, capacitors still are sometimes (but not often) the problem as they are somewhat more vulnerable to heat and age stress issues than other components. However, I've gone from about 95% bad cap repairs to about 5% or less of what I repair being due to bad caps. I also don't repair "off brands" as they have little to no resale value where I live.
There seems to have been an epidemic that included items manufactured up until about 2012-2013, an epidemic that has fallen off...

Re: Vizio M43-C1 No Backlights
Rather than messing with reflows that in my experience only last a couple of months (at best) and therefore cannot be resold, I take the panel out of M43-C1 and put them in a new but cracked screen unit. Substitutes are:
Toshiba 43L621U
Toshiba 43LF621U
Insignia NS43DR710 (Warning, this model has bad LED lifetime too)
Sharp 43LB591 or the next year's model too (43L711?)
In all these cases, the screen and tconn together are swapped. No modifications required beyond that....Last edited by jjanssen7; 02-13-2021, 08:30 PM.

Re: Vizio M43-C1 No Backlights
The M43-C1 is a great candidate for a panel swap. The LCD panel fits into several Sharp and Insignia 43" models manufactured in the similar time period. So just buy one of those "cracked screens" and swap the panel and tcon over. No mods needed.
Just a thought....
