Pic as requested. The backlighting appears to be even more faint now. I had to black-out the room for my crappy phone camera to even pick it up. It dimly illuminates only the top quarter of the screen. You can just barely make out the HDMI1 source msg in this pic (I have nothing connected to source at present).
I still need to re-open the case and check voltages as suggested by truep...

The screen is mostly dark with dim, but clear, picture on the right-hand side. The TV also emits a high-pitched whine when powered-on. Its as if the right-hand backlight (Master-side) remains functional although at reduced output with the slave-side completely out.

I've thoroughly inspected the power board and inverter boards and everything looks fine. No bulging caps or blown components. I checked the inverter board mosfets with a multimeter. After reading these forums I suspected the inverter board caps and replaced the... -
