It is currently bricked and doesn't even spin up the fans. (unplugged & died 1/2 way through a bios update!) I'm using a programmer to flash it off-board, then re-soldering it.

While I DO want a working bios obviously, I also would be very happy to be pointed at what I would need to be able to work with this stuff myself; I hate asking people to do things I should be doing for myself. How do you determine where to cut? Or do you HAVE TO have a dump from a working IC first to match up to? Please tell me that's not the case!...

not sure if youve already gotten a solution, but how does your cost compare to getting a cheap propane tank driven forge/casting/melting setup? (google amazon for examples). aside from having other potential uses, you could basically melt down whatever materials you wanted then and basically recycle stuff, make your own formulas, etc.
