Re: Identify diode - LSC0665SD2
Thank you! I was able to find it and the specifications on there! It seems functionally equivalent to what I have used.
Thank you, despite a lot of searching, I never came across it until Iotas linked me to the LRC website....

Identify diode - LSC0665SD2
Hi,
Repairing a Sonos Amp - Diode D2 appears to be shorted.
Markings are LSC0665SD2. I believe it's Liteon Semiconductor, but I can't find a datasheet or exact match for it. I've attempted to use OnSemi FFSD0665B as a replacement but the power supply doesn't work properly - secondary is a 48v PSU, it comes up to around 40v then appears to reset (nothing gone bang!).
Closest "LSC" device I've found by name is LSC06065DW.... but the pinout is nothing like the FFSD0665B I've fitted...
Picture attached, any help appreci...

Sonos Play 1 no power repair
A small thread from me - got a Sonos Play 1 exhibiting no power.
Opened it up expecting to find the primary side damaged by a power surge or similar, but it was all fine.
I found a short on the 24vdc side. I recalled watching a video by bigclivedotcom about him fixing Nest heat links with a similar issue and checked out diode D302 above the transformer. Upon removal of the diode - no more short!
Replaced with some ordered from RS it's alive again!...

Re: Kenwood Food Processor A532 - Magic Smoke
I bought a Kenwood Chef 901 a few years ago for a whopping £17 - fully working. I'd read something before I bought it that referenced the Rifa capacitors were a ticking timebomb. I found a repair kit including replacement caps and triac's on eBay. Replaced those for preventative maintenance and it continues to work a treat. Mum's old 901 still exists somewhere with original caps!

Re: Dell Latitude E6540 - 2nd dead motherboard
I have a 6540 board with similar symptoms (these ones are a different part number, they have the radeon graphics) to your original board. When I got it, the CD3301B (PU800) was dead (it had a burn hole in it), meaning it would run on AC but not charge a battery.
In removal I accidentally damaged a trace, but I managed to bridge it to a nearby cap/resistor on the same trace and it appeared to work fine for a few months, until it would randomly turn off and got worse. Last time I pulled it out, it was working fine again. I presume...

Nope, still got the 2 dead boards and an number of slightly different donor boards. Hope to try and investigate again when time allows.

Re: DELL Vorstro 3550 Battery not detected
This might not be the case with you, but I had something similar on an E6540 I just fixed.
It worked fine on battery and on power and both together, but wouldn't charge the battery.
I found the CD3301 (power management I believe, PU800 or PU801 I think) burned on two pins. Replaced it with a new one, almost losing two traces near the damage in the process. Tentatively added some wire to assist those and much to my surprise, it works like a charm!
If you're willing to open it, it's worth eye-balling every...

Re: Dell E5470 short in processor? LA-C831P
I went over the board again today and noticed that the replacement SIC530 had a ground short on a pin that should have no connectivity.
I replaced it and a capacitor next to it (it looked tested open circuit, it was) with one from the scrap board, but sadly no change the power light comes on, then almost immediately off, sometimes it stays on a bit longer.
I measured all of the caps under the processor on the reverse of the board and all show ~2.6ohms or higher depending on which side of the processor I...Last edited by seanc; 04-18-2020, 07:59 AM.

Replaced PU603 on the second board, same symptoms unfortunately, turns on, then off.

I'll replace PU603 on the second board with another new one and see what happens... the first just turned on for a second and then off.

Between gnd and vswh 03.5ohms on the 200 ohms setting - admittedly I've done most of my testing on the 2000 ohms setting where it just shows 003. Happy to be proven wrong, especially if it's because I screwed up the first board.

Dell E5470 short in processor? LA-C831P
Hi all,
Reaching out for any thoughts as I'm stumped.
I have two identical failed laptop motherboards. Both sport an Intel i7-6820hq.
Both boards failed in the same way, just went 'dead' with a smell of burning, not shorting the charger, but the inductors get very hot when plugged in to the laptop power supply.
An obvious failure on both was PU603 (Vishay SIC530 Manual) appearing burnt at the Vin section and Vin showing short to ground.
Removing PU603 removes that short,...Last edited by seanc; 04-15-2020, 11:54 AM.

Re: Logitech Z5500 No Sound (Bad control pod help)
Th3_uN1Qu3 knows some stuff about these. There was a great 'hacking' and mod community as well.
I repaired one set, replacing all the caps in the sub and finding a used control pod, otherwise it was very temperamental.
I have another to do, but my friend still has it, it turns itself off. I suspect the sub, but perhaps control pod.
I think I recall one of the main chips in the control pod being a cirrus chip which can go bad, it should be referenced online.

Re: Finding shorts - can a 12v 1a PSU (from a modem etc) be used?
Thanks for the responses guys.
I will look to invest in an adjustable lab power supply.
In my usage of the 12v 1a PSU, I was intending to use it where there is usually 19v 3a, in order to provide less power throughout the board, to perhaps locate the short without cooking things, or at least as quickly.
Once I get a power supply, I then need to work out where to apply the power at a specific voltage as there isn't a definitive schematic for this board. Hopefully I can work it out from...

Finding shorts - can a 12v 1a PSU (from a modem etc) be used?
Hi all,
I've got a couple of laptop motherboards with shorts, but I don't have a bench power supply yet.
The one I'm working on right now is somewhat disposable.
It's a Compaq CQ58 (AMD based) (lack of actual schematics) - I can get a brand new board for £19.99 from eBay at the moment and even then it might just all go in the bin.
So there was a crispy 4435 mosfet (damage seemed mainly on the source and gate side rather than drain) right next to the input for the power DC jack. I pulled another from a dead board - tested OK and installed it. The replacement...Last edited by seanc; 07-03-2019, 01:54 PM.

Re: NAD C320BEE - Bad capacitors?
Hi,
What you will probably notice when looking at the capacitors is that most of the casing will be discoloured. When tested, I found most of the capacitors were not up to spec.
I completely re-capped one a few years ago and it worked as normal afterwards.

Re: UniFi Switch 24 250W power supply
I'd be interested in seeing someone fix one of these.
I know of quite a few in service, so it's a bit concerning. Shame your switch is a few thousand miles away, else I'd have a go.
