Re: A guide on how to troubleshoot 2 seconds to black
Hello to you all. I hope that you can guide or direct me here. I have a 40 inch TCL LCD tv and am getting the 2 seconds to black issue. so far I have replaced the inverter board and gotten no change but my specific issue is that when I power it on, vertically I get half the screen to light up on the right and nothing on the left side then goes to standby and audio still works. I am baffled because when I first tested this issue the screen lit up very dim on the left and nothing on the right. after taking the tv apart and removing...

Re: Samsung SPS4243X/XAA
Hello all.
I am wondering on this tv, what would cause the picture to have very distinct pixelation and as a color changes shades, you can see the shade changes almost in pixelated bands. it almost resembles posterization if that makes sense. Like cartoonish effects. any ideas guys?

Re: Samsung SPS4243X/XAA
Thanks again for the info fellas. I have been tweakin around with these mentioned voltages to no avail. I still have the same single red pixel that just doesnt want to go away. in all white, or all black situations its fine of course but in any combination it glares at me laughing...lol. I tried actually slowly experimenting with all of the adjustable vr's just a little at a time and monitoring their effects but Im at a loss here. I would like to know where a person could find the last known firmware for this model. I know thats not going to fix this issue,...

Re: firmware Samsung PN50A4501DXZA
Hey thanks a lot friend I really appreciate your help on that. I did find an updat for the firmware on Sammy's site it was 1013, yours is 1018. I am going to look at that for sure. I flashed it without incident yesterday from 1008 to 1013 but the 1013 was still from 2008 which is the manufacture date. It did ad a lot of functionality in the menu that wasnt there before. Yes it is PN50A450P1DXZA. I left the P out thanks for pointing that out. May I as you where that firmware you gave me came from originally being it didnt show up on sammy's site?...

Re: Samsung SPS4243X/XAA
Yeah I was afraid thats what it was too. I guess Ill pull the back off and start tweaking it to get it as good as I can and run her till she dies. I got about 8 months use out of it. Bought it used for 150 bucks. I guess I got my moneys worth. Ive heard of people buying brand new ones and getting less than that. lol. Oh well welcome to capitalism at its finest.

Samsung SPS4243X/XAA
Again to the pro's here. This tv after adjusting all the voltages to spec this tv has been working quite well for a few months now. When I got it it had the dreaded red and green snow in the upper and lower left corners. Watching it tonight, there was a point when the movie had all black and I noticed that on the farthest left row of pixels from top to bottom there is sparkling going on and about 1/3 from the left side in the center there is 1 single pixel that is red. By itself depending on the color scheme it just shows as a red dot. A lot of the time its not there but depending on whats on...

Samsung PD50A450P1D
First things first. Thank you so much Tom for your help with this tv. I replaced the x-main and it worked perfectly. I have some questions though. first, there are some vr's on the y-sustain board that I dont see any reference to as far as where to get voltages from them or what they are supposed to be set at. The only one on that board with reference on the sticker is v-scan and I got that set. There are a couple others that I have no idea about. and second can you point me to the last firmware for this that I may update it, anda service manual for it. God bless what your doing over here man...

Re: Samsung PD50A450P1D
Where is the best place to order the X-Main board, and do you think I should try to replace the popped caps first?

Re: Samsung PD50A450P1D
More Pics As you can plainly see there is at least one cap shot on the x-main and one bulged on the Y-Sustain. I have tested all voltages coming in and going out of the Power supply board and like I said I adjusted all the voltages on the sticker to spec within .1v. There are however some vr,s on the Y-sustain board that I see no documentation, reference voltages or test points to so I didnt mess with those. I pulled all connectors and reseated then, and closely inspected all ribbon cables and they look seated perfectly. there is a green blinking led...

Samsung PD50A450P1D
I really need your expertise on this. Hello fellas, I was given this tv yesterday, and what they told me is that everything was fine on it and one morning they turned it on and it was real dim, and fuzzy, so they gave it to me for nothing. The tv trurns on fine, sound is just fine and the first thing I did was take the back cover off and test all the reference voltages up against the sticker on the chassis and put then all exactly on spec....no change. as I was inspecting all components and conectors for any obvious damage I ran across 1 cap on the x-main that was bulged and leaking and also...

Samsung S-S4243
Hey techs.
Much respect to you all on the posts I have done so far. Thanks for being so helpful.
I have a Samsung S-S4243. The model code is SPS4243X/XXA. version SB1.
It was manufactured in 2006.
The issue I am having is the lower left corner and upper left corner depending on the color scheme being produced on the screen, will have red snow in the lower right corner, or distortion, and green snow or distortion in the upper left. It is very minor at this point but I have a feeling its going to get worse. I use it mainly as a computer monitor and have only had it for about...
