Re: Sharp LC-60E79U Backlight Flicker
This set is now stuck in the lamp error mode. I can force it on, backlight comes on for a split second then turns off, then tv shuts down flashing lamp error. I was able to get into service mode and using a flashlight, navigated to the lamp error reset and turned it on. Powered down set, and restarted. Tv came on for a second then shut down again with lamp error.
Has anyone here upgraded to LEDs in one of these sets? Or should I scrap this thing and move on?

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U Backlight Flicker
I took the slave M2 board out, smaller one with 3 transformers on it, and measured Ohms from Hot to DC, the only one that reads any different is T1601. Lower at 1550 Ohms vs 1580 like the rest of them. Also, there is a "cooked" look to the connector going into the CCFL connector. The back side of the CCFL looks "cooked" as well.
Can that be replaced along with the board and/or transformer? I do have experience replacing LED strips on LED Tvs so I'm not afraid to tear the whole thing down.
What little...

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U Backlight Flicker
Error code is DET_15V (34pin) error (L). UR13V is not applied.
If error is detected during operation, error standby is activated by
polling. ( Pwr flashes x2, OPC flashes once )
On the power supply or the inverter, CapLeaker?
Voltages on Power Supply going to Main:
PNL_POW = 3.26
BU5V = 5.00
PS_ON = 2.8
AC_DET = 3.0
S14.3V = 14.39
UR14.3V = 14.39
PNL12V = 11.97
PNL12V = 11.95
Both red wired cables have 24V where it should...Last edited by SolderMaster; 01-03-2019, 05:05 PM.

Sharp LC-60E79U Backlight Flicker
Hiya folks.
This one has a backlight flicker problem as the title states. Eventually the set will shut itself down into protect mode.
Right now I have it in my basement running Youtube videos off an Xbox 360 for a source. Gonna let it run over night to see if I can get it to crash.
It seems to flicker mainly on the right side of the screen. Tapping on the metal top piece of the inverter board seems to make it stop for a few seconds before the flicker starts back up.
The main model number of this set is LC-60E77UN. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/917096/Sharp-Lc-60e77un.html?page=65#manual...

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
After replacing the 6 Optos, and pulling the set out of fault using Vol -, Ch +, PWR, the set then went into a different fault code. Power 2 times, OPC 3 times = Det_6V failure. Some online searching says the 6V comes from the main. Does anyone know which part on the main generates that?
Board # DUNTKF282WE19/ (A) FM19 X1
Maybe I can replace the bad component and have a spare main....

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
Side note on this 2nd set...
Besides the set turning off and flashing the DET_10V failure (Power 2x, OPC 1x), the backlight tends to flicker. I wonder if this is a side effect of the DET_10V being missing or intermittent. When I replaced all of the parts from the Shop Jimmy kit, I reset the TV to factory. Just curious if the flicker is caused by the missing 10V.

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
Installing all the parts from Shop Jimmy fixed the problem... on that set.
I have another set, same exact set. Replaced all the parts from SJ for the power supply, but I need to pick up some more optos. Will report back when those come in.

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
This set has died again. Same blink code. 1 OPC, 2 PWR. -10V Det missing PS_ON
I can bypass the code using Vol+ and CH- to get a solid power led. Pressing power button does not startup the set.
Voltage on the PS where PS_ON should go high is already high at 2.8 VDC. Pressing the power button on the set does nothing to that voltage.
I assume something on the main is shorted causing PS_ON to stay high. Should I buy a main board?

Re: Samsung UN40EH5000FXZA UF04 Service settings
Sorry, got busy with my day job.
I removed the back to make sure this was the set I replaced the main on...and it isn't. (I had 4 sets apart at once and confused the main repair)
This set I replaced the EEPROM on. This set also had the backlights replaced. I will pick up a whole main board and throw it in there to see if that gets her goin'.
Again, sorry for the delay in responding. I rewind electric motors by day and we got pretty busy.
I really appreciate...

Re: Samsung UN40EH5000FXZA UF04 Service settings
Firmware is the same as what was downloaded from the Samsung site.
Yes, tried factory reset. Was able to set language, time zone, etc.
When hooking up a video source, Blu-Ray player, it will show the Blu-Ray symbol as the player boots up, then the screen shuts down. Not off, but the backlights go out and nothing appears on screen. EDID and HDCP both show FAIL after factory reset.
Also, forgot to mention, replaced all three LED strips. Shopjimmy.

Samsung UN40EH5000FXZA UF04 Service settings
Replaced a main in this set and I'm not quite sure what the settings in the service menu need to be.
When powering on, it gives the message to set the Local, Type, and Front Color.
I also notice while in service mode, the failures in the attached photos.
Hopefully someone can tell me what the settings should be.
I've looked online and couldn't find much about the actual settings....

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
Well, I could not find a schematic with the cap value. The service manual only had the one for the main, key, and IR boards. So, I found an old board and borrowed an smt cap from that. The TV has been working great for 2 hours.
Until something else cooks, I want to thank you folks on here for helping me. Your knowledge and time are greatly appreciated!!

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
Sometimes, a little closer inspection goes a long way.
I took the PS off the panel and looked it over. I found a blown part.
Now, does anyone know what value is supposed to be there? I assume it was a smt cap.
I repaired an old Panasonic plasma PS with a small electrolytic cap a few years ago that is still in service. So, I assume that little cap is causing my loss of AC_DET voltage....

Re: Sharp LC-60E79U - 2 Green, 1 blink - 1 Green 1 blink
This makes prefect sense. It would explain why it works at first then goes to fault. I watched a video on YouTube showing how using compressed air or freeze spray helps find bad components. I'll pick up a can tomorrow and test it. For now, I will research the AC_DET Opto and a few other TVs I have waiting troubleshooting.
Thank you guys for your knowledge and patience. I will report back soon....
